I’m all for multiple languages on signs when really needed. But if you can’t read English why are you allowed to vote in the first place?

@ayatr0llah It's just a fact. Diasporas do not return. History has shown this over and over. Even people who come from highly desirable European countries don't go back after setting here. Inertia carries people forward.

Never really understood the “diaspora won’t return” talk. Seems more rooted in conceptions of diaspora being all from ‘79. Almost every Iranian I know who arrived in the last 10-15 years would love to go back. Beyond that, even people who split time would be a boon to the country

btw one thing that didn’t get attention was the fact that during the war, instead of seeing mass refugees fleeing Iran we witnessed Iranians ENTERING Iran in mass. This happens when a nation doesn’t find its roots in Sykes-Picot but rather from Cyrus the Great.

This Muslim lad and his family, including his elderly parents and newborn child, are being tormented by racist neighbours who have assaulted him, abused his parents, and caused criminal damage to his work van and property.
They even turned up mob-handed at his doorstep with baseball bats and sticks.
Why? All because they cannot control or discipline their children.
While I understand that filming these incidents is important, this should be a police matter, or at some point appropriate deterrence must be taken for his and his family’s sake.

Be very careful about going down the anti-Islamist route. What we need are targeted visa bans on specific national groups, like Pakistanis, Somalis, and Bangladeshis, where certain visas are routinely abused or lead to outcomes that harm the British national interest.
The whole “anti-Islamist” or “anti-Islam” framing is pathetically vague and ends up creating more enemies than it’s worth. It’s also weak in terms of actual outcomes. What works is Trump-style visa bans on national groups that keep causing problems. This isn’t a slight on every individual; it’s just probabilistic reasoning and an admission that we can’t always separate the wheat from the chaff. Better to deal with this upstream than try to fire-fight the consequences downstream.
