Help save our Archdiocese of St. John's churches & parishes. We won our appeal, but we are taking our case even further. Please help with our costs for a Canon Lawyer. gofundme.com/f/help-save-ou…

@americamag Be careful what you wish for. A lot of lay people actually in the pew would not support choosing the type of bishop he envisions.

@DanyRaeArras @DeanAbbott I hear you. My dad moved away and my mom work shifts to make ends meet. Dinner for me was often frozen pizza or Chef Boyardee in the microwave

Dany is highly polished 😉
@DeanAbbott My dad was very absent from my life after their divorce which left a huge male influence void. My mom also worked full time which left me just generally not looked after. Not really parented

Children of Divorce, What would you say was the biggest effect on you of your parents splitting? If it wasn't that bad, what kept it from being as bad as possible?

@DeanAbbott @SteveSkojec When I was 15 my dad left, remarried someone almost half his age and then moved half way across Canada to start a “new life.” I didn’t realize how big a scar it left until decades later I had my own teenaged sons and thought how the hell could you do that?

@MadelnCanada @Jon_Hartley_ POV it’s my birthday in 2010 and I walk into Future Shop when it opens to buy myself an iPad in the first day of its release. I was only there because a meeting down the road had just cancelled

@SteveSkojec @DesireeAmerica4 I don’t know, as kids soccer coach years ago there were certainly times where a little Soccer Mom Sangria would have been welcome.

Jessica Holloway, 34, from Tampa, Florida showed up to her daughter’s U-8 girls soccer game yesterday morning at Carrollwood Recreation Park. She was wearing a “WINE MOM ERA” tank top… and decided it was the perfect time to set up a folding table and an Igloo cooler on the sidelines. Then she started selling homemade wine in mason jars to the other parents. Her menu? “Carrollwood Red” — $8 a jar “Soccer Mom Sangria” — $10 a jar “Divorce Rosé” — $12 a jar (yes, really) She got detained on the spot. Now she’s facing charges for unlicensed alcohol sales and operating an illegal vendor stand on public youth athletic property. At a children’s soccer game. Let that sink in. So are you? Team “It’s just harmless side-hustle mom energy” or Team “This is completely unhinged and inexcusable at a kids event”?

@timecaptales @Jon_Hartley_ Peaceful? Banff townsite is an outdoor shopping mall. Went on a hike at Lake Louise and there was wall to wall people hiking up to the tea house. My sons, used to hiking in Newfoundland, couldn’t believe it. At home we would go out and see a handful of people in a few hours.

@Joeinblack Went to where our miscarried child is buried and my wife’s family. Only one other group there. Do you have cemetery Masses there? Once a year they have Masses at most cemeteries which are well attended.

I finished praying my masses for the day and then Dad and I visited mom’s grave and cleaned it up. On the way out of the graveyard, dad and I were touched at how many people were at the there. There were even families with chairs and picnic baskets sitting at graves. On the way out, I saw a solitary man standing at a new grave. Dad and I prayed for him. Maybe you could join me and asking God to heal his broken heart.

@Joeinblack Beautiful. I had a similar opportunity to love my mom like you did late in her life, when, while visiting she became very ill. For six months I was by her side, praying, visiting. I hadn’t spent that much time with her since college. She died in 2019. 😢 💕

My Mom The older I get, the more I appreciate how she loved me enough to let me suffer appropriately. She didn’t run to the school or the coach, she taught me fortitude & how to thrive in a world that can’t do justice. In their time together, she and Dad took 38 kids into their home. They gave love, food and work to everyone they could. The phone began ringing at 530 in the morning and kept going until the wee hours of the night. Dad & her didn’t know how to quit; there was always a way to help She and dad loved each other in word & deed. Polar opposites who loved, fought & worked together with crazy beautiful passion. They showed us what it looked like when 2 flawed humans made it their mission to be one. In the end, she gave me one last gift. When Alzheimer’s took her mind, I got to love her in her last years like she loved me in my first; without memory or hope of a response, just pure love & sacrifice. Happy Mothers Day, Mom. I’ll see you in the clearing at the end of the path. #mother

Been working a bunch without much sleep and I was crashing this morning so I did something I never do: I walked over to my local Denny's and grabbed breakfast I didn't have to cook. After tip, an omelet and coffee was TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS. AT DENNY'S. What are we even doing??
