What a weird critique of a website that deeply cared about womens’ reproductive rights in a time when the Democratic Party, with control of all 3 branches of government, couldn’t be bothered to codify Roe. Jezebel being blamed for it is crazy work.
joan don'tion@elizabethbelsky

I would add that I and a lot of younger millennials I know harbor resentment toward the Lindy Wests of the world for the time and words wasted on petty individualistic grievance politics while we lost all right to control our own bodies. Jezebel fiddled while Roe burned.

During the first airing of my Star Trek series where a kiss was objectionable; many southern stations pulled the episode & condemned the show. Using today’s vernacular it would absolutely be called“woke DEI crap”because it went against “norms” of society for its time. Not a lot seems to have changed.🤷🏼😑

And yeah - I know she had no dirt. If someone offers you to come and have sex with a 12-year-old, "there was no 12-year-old" is really not much of an exoneration.

I like a lot of @EliLake's writing, but it still astounds me that a presidential campaign enthusiastically exploiting material stolen by Russian hackers from American political organizations (& actively trying to get its hands on that material) can be seen as "a phony scandal."
Brit Hume@brithume

Quote: "Mueller’s family didn’t deserve the president’s grave dancing. None of Trump’s many enemies do. But Trump also didn’t deserve Russiagate. Nearly a decade after that phony scandal, our republic is still trying to recover." thefp.com/p/robert-muell…

@mnolangray When I was a kid there was a public campaign called “pitch in to clean up America.” That’s where the crying Indian commercial is from. We should bring it back.

@showmeopie I think a mini primary would’ve been a shit show, but a different candidate would’ve had an easier time distancing themselves from Biden. On the other hand, they would’ve had zero time to build name recognition.

People say stuff like this but never offer up the alternative - who would have been stronger than the sitting VP? Either when Biden stepped down or if he had done so earlier? It’s not clear to me how she was weaker in comparison to Trump, an old moron she vaporized in a debate.
Alice@AliceFromQueens

@showmeopie If defeating Trump was a matter of life or death, we shouldn't have run a weak candidate, regardless of her race and sex. To do otherwise was profoundly neurotic, as I said at the time, and now you can thank your neurosis for four more years of Trump

I love my wife the former slut!
Trevor Sheatz@TrevorSheatz

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

Okay Claude's memory system is generally pretty good but the way it ties back every random question to something in your memory is very annoying. "what is <thing>" "...so is this related to your work with <topic a> or maybe you ran into this with <topic b>?" stop

I think a good looking candidate is helpful, but we ran a beautiful woman who could have been in a cover girl advertisement against some of the ugliest people (inside and out) ever.

@mattyglesias In Branson, MO there are a lot of “extended stay” hotels where residents pay by the week. A successful one next to our property has a no drugs rule and gives drug tests on the spot if they suspect usage. Since it’s a hotel eviction rules don’t apply

On the other hand, the more shared communal spaces you have the more the landlord needs to be able to evict you quickly for misbehaving which has also become harder.

@ok_post_guy My point is that Josh Barro is not wrong. I’m old enough to remember how the right made Hillary an issue in 1992. Clinton won anyway, but it created a lot of headaches that bled over into the first year of his tenure (health care bill, travel office firings)

Waiting for the old Team Obama to flood our feeds with “If we’d stayed in JCPOA, Iran wouldn’t have missiles that could fly 4000 KM.” Except the JCPOA didn’t put limits on the missiles.
