The idea that game prices will skyrocket without used/physical games is hilarious for two reasons: 1. Games compete with one another for sales, time and attention even within the same platform. If two digital games launch on PlayStation in the same month but one is bombing, it WILL have to go on sale sooner than later even without a physical version. 2. Many Nintendo games during the Switch 1 era had physical copies. They notoriously rarely went on sale anyway, because the demand and not the format dictated the price. This whole argument is pure fearmongering from a dying breed, hoping to scare you into supporting them.

@Di6italArti5t @_Firehawke_ That’s not true, every physical game I own is downloadable and playable without the internet, take the Resident Evil franchise for example, all of them are on the disc and you can play them offline, and thousands of other games too.

You can prefer physical games, but still be a realist and predict this protest has a 0% chance of doing any real damage. Yet the mob views this logical conclusion as bending the knee. If you aren't cheering for an impossible miracle, you're a "corporate bootlicker." When analysis is seen as betrayal, that turns every conversation into a loyalty test instead of a discussion about business trends. When a person's identity as a gamer is tied so deeply to a piece of plastic, admitting digital is the future feels like a personal failing. Outlets and grifters aren't helping by instilling false hope via clickbait headlines like "Sony Is Panicking!" Once the dust clears and PlayStation just moves on with us digital gamers, anyone who fantasized about some big comeback for physical games is going to take defeat embarrassingly, like finding out their parents lied to them about Santa being real.
