My position on the flag conversation is that I think we should always be flying the current adopted flag. The reason I feel that way is that it respects democracy. I feel going back to the old flag would be very disrespectful and it would be undermining the democratic process that yielded the current flag. The new flag wasn’t my favorite of the options however it has since grown on me especially post metro surge. I saw the flag become the symbol of perseverance and unity and it really stuck with me and made me proud of our new flag. The pain and suffering we endured from metro surge was felt all across the state and right here at home in Mounds View. The flag was a central symbol of light in the darkness that was metro surge. We will likely do a proclamation and a flag dedication in the near future to cement our commitment to flying this flag and I would also like to see us adopt an ordinance stating we will fly whatever the current adopted flag is further reinforcing our commitment to democracy and the state and the place we call home. In regard to the old 1983 flag there had been attempts to change it for years. I don’t have any real attachment to it other than it’s all I have known. After 43 years It was time for a change. The old flag also had some racial undertones to it that does not reflect my values or our values as a city. I will admit I never saw the flag that way but have since learned about its history and nowhere in my conscience do I want us to be one of the cities who go back to that. Mounds View is a city where EVERYONE is WELCOME. We have done tremendous work to address our own racist past, and we will continue to work on it. We will continue to be a beacon of what is possible when good government works to serve its people and I think we are doing just that and the old flag does not fit in that equation.

Minnesota used to be populated with kindly Norwegian Lutherans. Sure they were a bit naive and lefty, but they were mostly harmless. That’s all gone now. There’s no more Lutherans. Minnesota is now cynical tankie Communists pining for Stalin and Somalian pirates. That’s it. That’s all there is.

Minnesota is a problem. Let’s talk about it. When people think of Minnesota they probably think of the great film FARGO in which the average resident is portrayed as either a low class low IQ drunk or a serial killer. You know what? Fargo was being NICE. The real Minnesota is far worse. It was worse back then and it’s WAY worse now.

You say you’re “done” with me, @epaleezeldin, but I’m not done with you. Your job is to serve the American people. You chose to serve Monsanto instead. Yesterday you got caught red-handed. Your actions on glyphosate are a betrayal of the American people. They deserve justice.
Lee Zeldin@epaleezeldin

I told Senator Sheldon WhiteClub today that I won’t be listening to or caring about any of his lessons on morality knowing that he joined an all-white Rhode Island Country Club. I’m also done with the likes of AOC, Al Gore, John Kerry, and the rest of the lying cabal that make stupid climate predictions, plunder tens of billions of tax dollars, enrich their well-connected allies, and are committed to strangulating out of existence entire sectors of our economy. Climate alarmist AOC wants to be taken seriously while also insisting the world is imminently about to end due to climate change (Just under 5 years remain on her nutty Jan 2019 prediction that only 12 years of life are left on Earth). Al Gore is now speaking publicly about his concern with global freezing after decades of grift talking about global warming. “Within the decade there will be no more snows of Kilimanjaro,” said Gore in 2006 (There’s still snow on Kilimanjaro year-round). Gore also predicted in 2009 ice-free Arctic summers within 5-7 years. John Kerry warned in 2009 that the Arctic would be ice-free by 2013. These people are dishonest, power-hungry hacks. The GREEN NEW SCAM is DEAD!!!

While there are many people celebrating the demise of LIV, for far too long there were far too many mute mouths about the cancer that LIV was and is. It tilted the game towards greed. It muddied the meritocratic aspects of golf. It’s likely that the philanthropic foundations of this game will, to some extent, be eaten into to fund the future equity of PGA Tour players. It stalled, or killed, the trajectory of hall of fame players. It divided the game. The only win, as I see it, is that LIV sought to launder the atrocities of the Saudis, but instead it further highlighted them. As LIV players sold their autonomy, the whole sport seemed to be in the throes of transition, from professionalism to authoritarianism. But the golf world knew that the Saudis were not interested in golf and that sport has norms that are worth preserving. Money, not for merit, but for the murky purposes of sportwashing crowds out those norms. It is in the striving to get better that one gets richer, that is the transformative influence of sport; both the athlete and audience benefit from the norms of competition. Sportswashing, what MBS/PIF were attempting to do with LIV by paying athletes for their celebrity to confer legitimacy on their murderous regime, reverses this process because it is only ostensibly about the competition, it is primarily about the obfuscation of the horrors of the regime. Both the athlete and the audience are robbed of the transformative influence of sport and what they are participating in and watching is merely a facade, a base amusement. So it is no surprise that almost nobody watched. Good riddance to the Saudi backed LIV.

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

Today’s Supreme Court ruling guts the Voting Rights Act and turns back the clock on the foundational promise of equality and fairness in our election systems. Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act was one of the last remaining federal protections for Black and brown voters against maps deliberately drawn to dilute their political power. That protection has been stripped away. It is an outrage. But it is not a surprise. It is part of an agenda that conservatives set in place decades ago to steal power from everyday people and then cling to that power for generations. The court’s decision is motivated by politics and designed to give an upper hand to Donald Trump’s Republican Party, which faces the threat of losing the upcoming midterm elections. We must pay attention to what happens next. The fight now returns to the states. Legislatures — particularly those in the South — will rush to redraw districts before voting for the midterms begins in just a few months. Already, Louisiana and Florida are planning to redraw their maps, and we should not be surprised if others rapidly follow suit ahead of the midterms and 2028. Their politically-motivated power grab is meant to protect elected Republicans from any consequences for their failure to make groceries, gas, health care, or housing more affordable for you and your family. They want to cheat and choose their voters, instead of the voters deciding who they choose. The mission before us is to restore the power of the people. There is no question our fight became harder today, but I know we are up for the battle.

@WSJ Make every single one of the LIV golfers go back to Q school or the Korn Ferry and earn their tour cards. They chose not to jump ship earlier this year when the tour gave them a golden parachute. Punish them.

This decision is outrageous. MAGA is SCARED of YOU. They know they LOSE when Black, Latino, and diverse voters are heard — so they shut them up and rig the maps. We’re not backing down. November is coming.

Crazy that people take these nihilist communists seriously. Sits there trying to impress his friends and neighbors with meaningless flowery language, all in an effort to justify cold blooded murder. For all the kids out there, the Pikers of the world are what evil looks like.
