That Anthony Albanese address to the nation felt extremely unnecessary. I was expecting something far more serious than bland platitudes of ‘Aussie-ness’ and ‘hey, we’ve cut the excise and maybe try taking the train’. What a waste of everyone’s time. #Auspol

@makoshark35 100%. If we don't win 2 out of the next 3, then the last few weeks are for nothing.

Happy, frustrated, stoked, annoyed..mixed emotions, but ultimately positive...one niggling thought though, I feel the last few weeks will be for nothing if we don't win next week.....thoughts???

@rickm18 The only one you would want in from last year is Wardlaw.

If I know how to read - debatable - I can see eight changes from North's last game of 2024 to the first game of 2025. In: Comben, Daniel, Darling, Konstanty, Logue, O'Sullivan, Parker, Sheezel Out: Dawson (Kallan), Drury, Fisher, Pink, Shiels, Stephens, Teakle, Wardlaw

@atrupar @airbagmoments You are the problem with western governments. You highlight the absurdity of the far right but you are blind to the systemic problems that every neo capitalist society suffers through; profit over people. You give excuses to the rich and powerful that give lip service

@airbagmoments are you serious? Because if you are, that's pretty fucked up. Dude was not a mass murderer. Criticize his company all you want -- I agree our health care system is a mess -- but him being gunned down is not justifiable.

Most of Darling's value will come from the intangibles and teaching other forwards (Larkey) the craft. (And the discussion about North's list needing someone like a Darling after the last few years is a whole different topic.)

North getting Darling makes a lot of sense. Experienced stop gap to soak up minutes, set standards, and allow younger keys to develop at their own pace. Less pressure on Comben (assuming forward), others don't get rushed, not like Darling breaks the bank with $$ or picks.

The Lions were 2-5 and sick and since then have gone nine wins, a loss and a draw, and that record includes seven straight wins. At Round 14, they were 13th. They are now third with a bullet. @Robbo_heraldsun gives the Lions some love in The Tackle: bit.ly/3WtA0R9

Wow 4.5% wage increase for vic public servants who have bankrupted our state and due to work at home have left the CBD a wasteland. Destroying small businesses in the process.

Australians continue to get poorer Latest National Accounts released today show the Albanese GPD per capita Recession deepens further, going backwards 0.4% for the March quarter - and backwards 1.3% for year to date. What will it take to wake up to destructive insanity of Net Zero ?

@DaveMilbo Out of curiosity; do you think the only way for proper progressive policies to succeed is to have more independents and teals in government?

Wilkie felt he could vote on the motion to recognise Palestine. He didn't need to follow convention and wait until Monday in the face of such slaughter. Why was he able to do so? And get real: name a set of circumstances where the ALP would have voted differently. Seriously.

Fascinating and overwhelming qualitative sentiment in this thread. There are warning signs for the ALP. I hope the party hacks splitting hairs about standing orders in the face of infanticide take note.
David Milner@DaveMilbo

I hear this sentiment from older people all the time. It will eventually disappear. I'm turning 40 this year and I've not in my lifetime witnessed this mythical moral and brave Labor party worthy of undying support. It doesn't exist anymore, if it ever did.

@RabbyHendry @ByMarcMcGowan Correct but you lose. McKay, cunnington, ziebell, Goldstein, turner etc. And they lose more structure. Not that they are great players but they can play a system better than kids
