@caryseven @AnzaBorregoPark Yeah, it's a cool mode. It's better for ragchewing than racking up the easy QSOs with FT4/FT8. I need to leverage it more; the APRS gateway could be very useful to spot yourself sans cell coverage.

@N3Xul @AnzaBorregoPark Great to catch you camping at Anza Borrego on FT4 & JS8call! This was my first contact using Fast mode. I first used JS8 from the field (Tablet/RPi/FT891/KG6HQD doublet) May 2020 from Malibu Springs (1838 W6/SC-311).

Day 2 of #hamradio #pota from @AnzaBorregoPark US-1126. Will be running mostly digital modes after sundown so the other campers won’t have to hear me yell phonetics into a microphone.

IC-7300 with AH-4 tuner was employed with about 30' of wire with a handful for radials 5-7 feet long. Power was provided by a @jackeryinc Explorer 240 and their 100W solar panel (works great in a desert!). Cheap Dell laptop running Ubuntu was used for the digital modes.

Finished logging #hamradio contacts worked on 11 bands in @AnzaBorregoPark #pota US-1126. 147 QSOs, 7 of which were #sota chases. Most of QSOs were digital to keep the volume low in the campground: 36 FT8, 77 FT4, and 2 JS8. There were 25 SSB, 3 CW, 2 FM, and 2 D-Star QSOs.

@dtabor I always say I need to fill the car with “dead dinosaurs”, even though I know most of the ancient biomass is plants.

@EA2CW @AnzaBorregoPark Yes, that is my point. I’ve been acknowledged as P2P or S2S and still told to standby 😂

@N3Xul @AnzaBorregoPark At least in SOTA activs, S2Ss are usually at 1st place. Then, work the strongest & fastest ones (CW) and go down by the list.

Last night in @AnzaBorregoPark #pota US-1126. Here’s a #hamradio question: When activating a #pota park or #sota summit, how do you handle a pileup? Here’s the order of operations that makes the most sense to me: 1. DX 2. P2P/S2S 3. Everyone else What do you think?

Haven’t been doing much #hamradio lately, but I’ll be in @AnzaBorregoPark #POTA US-1126 until Wednesday. I can run 80M to 6M as well as 2m and 440MHz FM and D-Star. Will be doing digital modes and some voice, and maybe some CW if I’m feeling froggy.

I would have done a POTA activation today but it was minus 50 billion degrees with the windchill 🥶🥶🥶🥶

@KJ4M_R @arrl @POTAspots I saw a note that the Park Rangers aren’t happy if you set up antennas outside of a regular parking space. This is my second activation there both times I used mag mount antennas on the car. I didn’t use the handheld Arrow II much.

@N3Xul @arrl @POTAspots Cabrillo is my favorite park with nice elevation for VHF/UHF and you get credit for the extra bands!

Can you activate a park without using HF? It’s easy to do during the @arrl VHF Contest. I activated #pota US-0907 using 6m, 2m, and 70cm. Surprisingly no SSB or CW heard on 6m. @POTAspots
