@ChrisMurphyCT Peak irony. Taking shots at the gullible mainstream media that is at the same time perpetually carrying the truth water of Dems and gaslighting. Keep trying, Chris. You’ll get it one day.

A good thread on Trump's fake EO on college sports. He got the headlines he wanted from the perpetually gullible mainstream news. But the order does nothing - because Trump has no power to regulate college sports. It's not worth the paper its written on. It's all pretend. But the big schools will love it because he sides with the greedy industry and against the athletes. Trump wants to keep allowing the Power Five to collude and wage fix so that the billions in revenue from big time college sports go to the rich adults and not the actual athletes.
Kyle Saunders@profgoose

1/Trump just signed the college sports EO. Signed on Final Four eve for maximum visibility. Here's what a political scientist sees in the 10-page document and the coverage around it. 🧵

Even if you did not support Trumps decision to launch of war of choice against Iran (like me), restricting the use of US airbases in NATO countries imprudently damages NATO unity. Yes, Trumps threats to invade/annex NATO countries does too. But 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

@SildidInfo Yeah but the key word in this is “if” so despite Denmark’s plans, it never was necessary because it didn’t actually happen. So again, when did these invasion attempts take place?

@ReichlinMelnick What’s your source for “virtually all are working hard, 80+ hours a week? Trust me bro or do you have anything to back it up? Because all I see is disingenuous bullshit to back your narrative irrespective of truth.

This is a falsehood. Undocumented immigrants are not eligible for federal assistance. Virtually all are working hard; often extremely hard, 80+ hours a week, and face exploitation from unscrupulous employers. Many *literally* build this country; 50% of Texas construction workers!
Lydia Moynihan@LydiaMoynihan

America has always been a nation of immigrants. But in the 1800s, immigrants came here to BUILD this country. No welfare, no handouts, just opportunity and hard work. Today millions cross illegally and immediately get on government assistance. That's not the same thing.

@ReichlinMelnick Aaron, you ignorant slut. You parade around talking abt how they’re “ineligible” & therefore it doesn’t happen. Crime is against the law, yet we still have it. How hard is it for you to look around & see the fraud and realize that this is actually happening? Stop gaslighting us.

@naasvzyl @NorthshoreRob59 @rushicrypto It’s absolutely amazing how confidently you dismiss truth and just continue to spout lies. You’re defending Iran - a terror regime for 47 years - and letting them play the victim. You have no interest in a legitimate conversation. You’re an insufferable anti American troll.

🤣 Nothing was debunked: 1. Fact: Trump ripped up the agreement during his first term 2. Fact: The us asked for a new agreement to be negotiated in 2025 3. Fact: Iran negotiated and was attacked without warning while still at the negotiating table. 4. Fact: The US asked them to return to the negotiating table in 2026, which they did. 5. Fact: The US attacked them again, without warning, while at the negotiating table. 6. Fact: the US has asked them again for a ceasefire and returning to the negotiating table.

Here is my proposal. Iran opens the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping. President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Secretary Hegseth resign. All US bases in the Middle East close forever. Iran agrees to abandon regional proxies. The US stops arms shipments to Israel. Iran agrees to not pursue nuclear weapons and allow verification. What do you say?

@BadSportsRefs There is a reason there is a zone. It’s a binary option. Pitch is either in the zone or out of the zone. If it touches the zone, it’s in the zone.

@NoahHirshon @kurtbardella Gas could be $0.30 in the rest of the country and it’d still be $7 in California so shut up and stop being a narcissist. I have no sympathy for self inflicted wounds - don’t live in California, and you get better gas prices.

Chinese youth are now taller than Americans. They are better educated. They live longer. Half as many women die in childbirth. They have 8 of the top 10 universities and are ahead in over 80% of techs. If China's poor, American sucks at being rich.

@ReichlinMelnick We carry NATO. The rest don’t need to trust us. They need to respect us. If they’d respect us & act like it, the trust would never have been an issue. Stop gaslighting folks - NATO has become the Somali grift w/ Europe acting as the grifting fraudsters freeloading off our backs.

@TheShortBear @sincitycapital @BlueH0rseShoe If you’re in the camp of having a great & strong US the world can rely on, then you clearly understand the problems Iran has presented for 47 yrs. It’s surprising that you support and strong reliable US but oppose taking down the terror regime responsible for global insecurity.

I'm a republican, not leftist... Being a capitalist is literally my job. I'm in the camp of having a great and strong US the world can rely on so it can prosper for centuries to come. I supported Trump for a long time, I just cant support everything he ran against and why people voted for him.

All it made sure of is to tell partners and allies that the US under this admin is not reliable, can't be trusted, and will knowingly and willingly sacrifice its allies for a mistake that was avoidable to begin with. This is true not just about petrodollar but about treasuries and business ties. Just look at US dollars as part of reserve or what the level of treasuries held as percetnage of total under this admin. Biggest exodus in global trust in US ever right now. Biggest source of instability is not perceived to be Iran or any other radical regime right now.

@EvolutiaR Great facts - despite Europe being big customers, they’re cheap as hell and not pulling their weight. The free ride isn’t related to what you buy. It’s the fact that when you remove US from your defense, your defense systems no longer matter. You need our presence. Eat shit.

100,000 American troops in Europe = a free ride for Europeans? Let's check the facts. 🔹 American military bases are not free Germany, Italy, Spain, and Romania pay for the infrastructure, land, utilities, and civilian personnel of US bases. Germany alone contributes over $1 billion annually to support the American military presence on its soil. 🔹 Europe is the largest customer of the American defense industry F-35s, Patriot missiles, HIMARS, Apaches — all purchased by Europeans with real money. Every security alarm in Europe translates into contracts for Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Boeing. 🔹 American bases in Europe don't only protect Europe Ramstein in Germany coordinates operations across Africa and the Middle East. Sigonella in Italy covers the Mediterranean and North Africa. Romania secures the eastern flank and the Black Sea. These are global American strategic assets — not neighborhood security for Europeans. 🔹 Command is American, not European NATO is always led by an American Supreme Commander (SACEUR). Europe contributes troops, bases, and money — but America holds the controls. Those who control the structure are not the ones getting a free ride. 🔹 The nuclear umbrella is not altruism American nuclear deterrence in Europe keeps the dollar as the world's reserve currency, keeps European markets open to US corporations, and legitimizes American hegemony against Russia and China. But what would actually happen if America withdrew its troops from Europe? 🔹 For America — immediate strategic losses Without bases in Europe, American response time to any crisis in Europe, Africa, or the Middle East grows from hours to days. Ramstein, Sigonella, and Incirlik cannot be replaced by aircraft carriers. Infrastructure built over decades disappears overnight. 🔹 The American defense industry loses its biggest customer A Europe without the US umbrella will build its own defense industry — and fast. Airbus Military, KNDS, Leonardo, and Rheinmetall will take the contracts that Lockheed and Raytheon currently win. Billions of dollars shift from America to Europe. 🔹 The dollar weakens Dollar hegemony is partly sustained by American global military credibility. A withdrawal from Europe signals to the world that America no longer guarantees the postwar order. Alternatives — the euro, the yuan — become more attractive as global reserve options. 🔹 Russia wins without firing a single shot Not necessarily through immediate invasion — but through political influence, energy pressure, and the gradual destabilization of countries on the eastern frontier. The Baltic states, Poland, and Romania enter a security grey zone that no one can guarantee quickly. 🔹 China watches and draws conclusions about Taiwan A precedent of withdrawal from Europe sends a direct signal to Beijing: American commitments are negotiable. The cost of deterrence in the Pacific rises exponentially. Withdrawal is not isolationism. It is strategic abdication. America would not be leaving Europe because it no longer has interests there. It would be leaving while ignoring that those very interests are what make it a superpower. The "free ride" narrative doesn't describe Europe. It describes exactly what America has in Europe.

100,000 troops in Europe. Zero help on Hormuz. Bring them home now. No more free rides.
