5⃣For the sites that were inspected, none of the drawings were endorsed by professionals and neither was building permission obtained from the local authority.

𝙎𝒕𝙚𝒆𝙡–𝙏𝒊𝙢𝒃𝙚𝒓–𝑪𝙤𝒏𝙘𝒓𝙚𝒕𝙚 (𝑺𝙏𝑪) 𝙘𝒐𝙢𝒑𝙤𝒔𝙞𝒕𝙚 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑒 construction is a building method where steel, timber, and concrete are combined so they work together to support a building.
Steel beams provide the main strength, timber forms the framework, and a concrete slab is cast on top to create the floor.

We have intensified our crackdown on illegal construction in Greater Kampala Metropolitan, focusing mainly on the prohibited Steel Timber Composite Building Method (STC). The method was banned in 2022 by the minister @MoWT_Uganda @GenWamala after studies concluded that it was unsafe and a risk to the safety of Ugandans. Several suspects were apprehended from Kira Municipality yesterday. @ERBUganda @PoliceUg @Kiramunicipalco @ARBUganda @UIPE_Uganda

We showcased the Building Industry Management System (BIMS) at the World Engineering Day 2026 Exhibition organized by @ERBUganda. H.E. the President has assented to The Building Control (Amendment) Act, 2025, The Mortgage Refinance Institutions Act, 2025, and The Valuation Act, 2025.
The laws among others, introduce stronger penalties for illegal construction, empower the Bank of Uganda to regulate mortgage refinance institutions, and establish the Institute of Certified Valuers.
