Preah Vihear Temple has been destroyed by Thai shelling during this new round of fighting between Cambodia and Thailand. A UNESCO World Heritage site has been lost. This is not collateral damage. It is the destruction of irreplaceable cultural heritage during an active conflict.

Sangam Casino and Resort was shelled by Thai forces earlier today, before the ceasefire took effect. Workers were seen evacuating, and the building sustained significant damage. The strike raises concerns about attacks on large civilian structures. There is no clear evidence at this point that the site was operating as a scamming compound.

This morning, the Thai military bombed and shelled the Choam border area in Anlong Veng district. A Thai fighter jet dropped bombs on a mountain in Anlong Veng, described as the last former Khmer Rouge stronghold.

What appear to be Thai tanks firing indiscriminately into a civilian area, with soldiers jeering as they fire on homes, comes across as a game. It is unclear what resistance is present here, but from this video, invading Thai forces are seen shelling and destroying the homes of Cambodian civilians in the Bung Trakuon area of Banteay Meanchey Province.

This is disgraceful. Thai social media influencer Gun Jompalaing is circulating images of himself holding torn Cambodian soldier patches and presenting them as a joke. In the context of an active conflict, this comes across as mocking the deaths of Cambodian soldiers. Turning symbols tied to loss of life into content for attention is deeply disrespectful. It fuels hatred, hardens public opinion, and pushes the situation further away from restraint or de-escalation. This behavior should be clearly and publicly condemned by Thai authorities.

While talks meant to move toward a ceasefire were underway, Thai forces carried out intensified strikes against Cambodia. Between 6:08 and 7:15 a.m. on December 26, Thai F-16 jets dropped 40 bombs on Chok Chey village in O’Chrov District.
