Uganda’s playbook at @ID4Africa is bringing together important lessons on inclusion, education, data protection, and system transformation. Rosemary Kisembo, Executive Director of @NIRA_Ug for shared Uganda’s journey in taking registration and renewal services closer to communities through mass enrolment, while also transitioning from older systems into newer open and interoperable infrastructure to reduce vendor lock-in and improve sustainability. @LillianN60363 from @ncpdug highlighted deliberate efforts to include persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups through awareness, sensitisation, and accessible service points. Vincent Ssozi from the @Educ_SportsUg Ministry of Education shared how stronger identity systems are helping improve planning and service delivery within the education sector. After all, there is nothing for the people without the people first being visible within the system. Baker Birikujja, National Personal Data Protection Director at @pdpoUG , emphasized responsible data protection through staff training, signed commitments on responsible data handling, and system safeguards such as preview interfaces to minimise errors and improve accountability.

“Let us take advantage of this opportunity to ensure that workplaces are safe, inclusive, and accessible to persons with disabilities. Do not lose hope; there are many other areas where we can use our skills, gifts, and talents without being limited to white-collar jobs.”
