On December 5, 2024, we attended the Inclusive Health Symposium hosted by NUDIPU) at the Imperial Royale Hotel. The symposium was held to address the challenges Persons with Disabilities face in accessing inclusive health services.

Mr. Yona, the Chairperson NCPwD, Dr. Naboth and I had an insightful discussion about participation of PWDs in democracy . It is important that PWDs verify their voter details & exercise their right to shape Uganda's future. You can’t change a system you’re not part of.

All representatives of persons with disabilities at national and district level are encouraged to spread the messages of the election processes to their respective constituencies and encourage their members to participate in the voter registration processes.

Part of the discussion included the demystification of disability for the Electoral Commission, publicity measures to be used to reach voters with disabilities at the grassroots and how the Council can support the forthcoming voters registration.

The .@UgandaEC met with the Chairperson of the Council to discuss the forthcoming update of the voters register for persons with disabilities and the structures of the Council that could be used to ensure the representation of Persons with Disabilities in the general elections.

We participated in a workshop for OPDs to define their roles and responsibilities for phase 4 of .@HI_EARegion’s Leave No One Behind Project. Critical areas of need in capacity building to better understand and inline with the .@iascch guidelines were identified for action.

In a stakeholder engagement by .@NUDIPU: achievements, challenges and recommendations to sustain the .@ICTforPWDs project were shared, including the development of a national digital observatory to register OPDs and their membership.

A code of conduct for Political Parties and Organisations (Amendment) Act 2020 has been developed as a result of a court ruling and was introduced during the event.

We participated in the high level political parties and organisations dialogue on democratic governance, peace and conflict mitigation ahead of the 2025/26 general elections organised by .@UgandaEC & .@nationalco38640.

We participated in the validation meeting for “Exploring the Impact of ICT and Digitalisation Legal & Policy Frameworks on Inclusive Development in Uganda”, a research by GIZ & Toro Dev. The research focuses on marginalised groups including Persons with Disabilities.
