@averge11 Kinda sad that we might see you exiled for a few based jokes behind the scenes. The speedrunning community as a whole has become less and less good at dealing with any form of controversy and banning and exiling top runners has been all too common especially in mario spaces.

@GNETEngineer @Niftski The problem is, ironically, that Niftski was using a controller. Averger only plays on keyboards so he won't ban them. But because Niftski is better at one spot with a controller, he wants input switching banned.

@Verliswolf @Niftski So how is it cheating? What sort of unnatural advantage does it provide? Note that Averger didn't ban keyboards because he is better at keyboard than controller. He banned input swapping because Niftski was better at one spot with controller than he was with keyboard.

@Niftski It isn't sabotage or conspiring to uphold integrity for a category. Input swapping goes way too far beyond the bounds of what should be considered acceptable for the most iconic speedrun. Keyboard is already borderline, now it is just about finding little cheaty ways to top

@TheFiz_ @Niftski And the reason for Averger wanting it banned is that it was ideal for Niftski who had superior skill with both, and Averger wanted to deny Niftski his skill advantage.

@Niftski I don't understand how they allow Keyboard and Controller runs to exist on the same leaderboard, but ban a run that uses both.

@TheFiz_ @Niftski The long and short is that keyboards do not provide any sort of advantage so there was no need to ban it. But the ban was because one runner took control over the mods and forced a vote that they had their friends rig before anyone else could have a say.

@superdavo0001 @Niftski It's not really powerful or anything, Niftski just uses it because it is better for him personally. Averge just wants it banned because it didn't help him get any better. He was all for it until he realized wasn't any good at it.

@Niftski To play devil's advocate for a second, there is a reasonable argument to be made that sometimes people realise "wait holy sh!t this accessibility leniency we allowed is way too powerful" when someone uses it well. But the reasonable answer to that is a separate category.

@Da_mamoot @autisuns @Niftski No that is basically it. Averge had the vote closed before everyone voted with the argument that 'yes' couldn't win because he had all of his buddies vote the moment it began. So no one else had any say in it.

@autisuns @Niftski Like, at least the way it was presented in Niftski's video, it seems like a genuine effort was made to essentially rig the vote, at least to some degree, which i believe is important to address in order to keep competition fair.

@autisuns @Niftski The issue is primarily that seemingly half the mod team have a grudge against Niftski and close friendship with Averge11 and seem to have made a rule change specifically to damage Niftski's ability to play and help Averge11 competitively.

@autisuns @UnusualOutlet @Niftski averge is extremely famous for making public spectacles to force mods to do things in their favor, they can have a little taste of what it feels, especially when it is extremely warranted. Nothing would happen if this wasn't made public.

@UnusualOutlet @Niftski To avoid a witch hunt and/or harrassment, which averge is already receiving in droves. Look at the comments on his most recent video and other Twitter posts. Niftski obviously understands second-order consequences, he knew this would happen and did it anyways.

@autisuns @UmbleUmbleBee @Niftski Public servers can and have secret channels all the time, and a lot of the evidence is from Averger's private server. Like read the google doc where they go into the messages where they celebrated 'killing Niftski's career' with one of them making a video going RIP NIFTSKI.

@Niftski The argument for banning input swapping is so incredibly weak that not even an elitist would make it, holy. Some random elitist would probably say to ban keyboard altogether but here’s averge saying you can’t play controller if you use keyboard.
