The concept of turning unused devices into a global “shared computer” is smart.
Why?
🌍 Cloud computing is expensive
🤖 AI demand is exploding
💻 Millions of devices sit idle every day
🔗 Decentralization reduces reliance on big tech
So the problem they’re trying to solve is real.
⚖️ Execution Is the Hard Part
This is where reality matters.
Decentralized compute networks face big challenges:
Stability vs centralized clouds (AWS-level reliability is hard)
Security (running workloads safely on random devices)
Consistent performance
Real paying customers (not just token farmers)
Many crypto projects have strong ideas but struggle with real adoption.
The question isn’t:
“Can it work?”
The real question is:
“Can it compete with Amazon, Google, and Microsoft long-term?”
That’s very difficult.

Early participants often benefit

The launch of Chapter 1 is around the corner, and we’ve had some time to reflect on what worked and what didn’t during testnet. Testnet involved balancing several priorities: ensuring Bless functioned properly from an engineering standpoint; deploying effective anti-sybil measures; and providing clarity on rewards and progress for our community. This was challenging for our team. We achieved our engineering goals, but we didn’t perform as well as we wanted elsewhere. In the end, some real users lost out. The scale of the botting we encountered came as a surprise, and some sybils were rewarded. One of our most important objectives was to celebrate the community members that put time and energy into Bless, and in some cases we unfortunately fell short. For Chapter 1, we’re making several key fixes to the reward system, designed to recognize holistic engagement with Bless as a platform and repel sybils comprehensively. These changes will remove ambiguity, provide visible progress trackers and make the network more transparent and fair. We’re excited to share what this looks like with you very very soon.
