Once he was convinced by this cult the church had fallen- the logical conclusion is Christianity was false.

Then again, you have the same problem, if incense is this problematic evil, why is it used on the liturgies written by the Church Fathers? What about Malachi 1:11?

Isn’t it kinda obvious the consensus of the first 500 years is that incense is fulfilled by prayer? Isn’t Barnabas clear enough in his epistle that incense is abolished?

@ItsYoungNath @C2Antiquity @JPuncut The quote was brought up as a counter to Luke's claims. A proper case for iconography would include a more encompassing group of evidence, like Michael Garten's book. And no it's not obvious nor clear. That has to be demonstrated, and Luke did not.

@ItsYoungNath @C2Antiquity @JPuncut Adding to that, Luke had no argument when the homily referencing St. Meletius was brought up. Chrysostom spoke favorably of icons in it. Also, HE WROTE the Liturgy still used today, which includes incense.

You guys use Chrysostom for incense but had no explanation for the quote Luke brought up that explicitly says incense no longer exists…
