@LieutenantRusty From a submariner, with all due respect, sir, please keep your skimmer opinions to yourself. We burned this movie underway so many times, I think I could put on a one man show.

I don't get why so many people rate this so highly. It's not a great movie. It's pretty terrible as an adaptation, to begin with. It's got pretty terrible casting (except for Pelt and the Russian ambassador, and Fred Thompson made a good BG commander). The bits of action were poorly-thought-out, for the most part. The twists didn't have enough foundation established for them to make sense. 3 out of 10 at best.
