@mrc600sl @ChrisJNurse Which they were required to do before, but the legal framework was vague enough that they got away with not doing it. Clarifying a legal requirement is not an increase.

Florida doesn't have an income tax because it's been constitutionally prohibited for over a century. On the other hand, Ron DeSantis increased taxes on Floridians by over a billion dollars since he's been in office. We remember SB 50 from 2022 when he signed the bill after 11pm and Floridians woke up the following morning to new online sales taxes.
The Jake Buzz@thejakebuzz

Ron DeSantis cut taxes while every other state was finding new ways to take your money. Florida has no income tax and a surplus. He doesn’t meet the standard. He IS the standard.

The Boomification of Millenials is reaching advanced stages. We are now at “I’m Gen X and I drank from the garden hose” levels of cringe. Soon the Boomification will metastasize, the cascading effects will be irreversible and Millenials will transform into Boomers

my problem is that i genuinely see suicide as an option that makes sense. i don’t view it as unreasonable or selfish at all.

Reminder that there's two reasonable options when you get married: 1. The woman takes the man's name. 2. The two of you come up with a new family name. Not changing names, hyphenating, or a man taking a woman's name are all terrible non-options.

@jjreeves Judges with standing orders like this should be removed from the bench. Federal courts should have stylistic guidance, but be mandated to accept any commercially reasonable submission.

"Why did my case get dismissed?" "Well, we filed everything on time in the federal electronic CM/ECF system and the judge received the pleading in his inbox, but this particular judge orders a physical copy delivered to his office by 10 am the next day. We did that, but when we delivered the courtesy copy it was three hole punched at the left hand margin in the standard 9/32" hole size and not the oversized 12/32" hole size." BTW this screen shot is from a 22 page document. I don't know why we still have standing orders like this in 2026.

@AGGancarski 2030 is possible for Desantis 👀 Also, voters weren't looking for the next Rick Scott in 2018 because Rick Scott was mid, being generous. Rick Scott at his peak vs. Desantis at his peak would be a 70-30 Desantis victory.

Ah yes, because breaking the unemployment insurance system that employers pay into so that employees cannot access the benefits they're legally entitled to and then calling the subsequent reduction in claims "reduced unemployment" is totally an honest depiction of improving economic conditions.

@NHarding97 @AGGancarski @ScottforFlorida Sure bud. Scott brought down unemployment in Fl from 11.9% to 3.8%, during his tenure. Below the national average but you also blame him for your inability to keep a job, so that’s noted,

Brian Kemp is also very popular. Desantis didn't get popular for challenging Biden, he got popular for bucking Trump (in a way Floridians supported) when other Republican Governors wouldn't. Having Biden in office was just a blessing for Desantis because he didn't have to keep fighting Trump from 2021-2022 ahead of re-election.

@tackettscloset Well in the Rpof you get to vote for state committeeman and committeewoman who, in turn, vote for the chairman. But those races never actually get competitive because most people don't know or care about them.

I see zero difference between the leadership of either party. Neither Evan Power or Nikki Fried gives a rat's ass about the voters in their respective parties. Evan proved this when he went on a blocking spree and the only person Gruters cares about getting elected is his wife and she doesn't even live in the district (how's that for contempt for voters?). If the parties cared about voters the chairman and board members would have to run for election with all registered party members receiving a ballot. That's my rant for the day. JK, I'll find something else to rant about later

Both political parties benefit from having a corporate name that means something completely different. Average voters don't know that the Republican and Democrat parties are literal businesses designed to elect candidates. So, a lot of voters dislike when you say the Republican/Democrat party is corrupt because they think you're talking about their elected officials or you're saying their ideology is bad. Because of this, both political corporations are able to be corrupt as shit with absolute impunity, and you can't replace top level leadership because there's not enough voters who actually care about the corporate governance of an organization they only directly interact with once every like 2 years via primary voting.
Carolyn Tackett@tackettscloset

@FloridaGOP by not scheduling any debates before the primary you are derelict in your duty to Florida Republican voters. As Republicans we have a right to hear from each of the candidates and to make up our own minds without you putting your finger on the scale.
