Is your baby a babbler? If so, congratulations on reaching this important developmental milestone. Typical between 4-12 months of age, you can think of babbling as the “on ramp” to speaking - a discovery phase during which your child progresses toward the production of more and more conventional speech. Babbling generally begins with single syllables like “da” or “ba,” before advancing to a more repetitive stage like the one shown in this video (in which our hero finds herself experimenting with da-da-da variations). As your baby becomes more proficient in their sound production, a third phase in which multiple syllables are combined (“ma-da-ba,” for example) is common in the buildup to your child’s first conventional words. This sleepy little babbler was shared to TT by thetiktokbabyyy.
