Women’s rights are under pressure all over the world. @UN_Women plays a key role in addressing this. During my meeting with @unwomenchief Sima Bahous, I announced that NL will contribute 2 million euros to the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and Girls in 2026. 1/2

Violence against women and girls is a global emergency that affects 1 in 3 women worldwide. This is not a matter for 50% of the population, this concerns us all. NL’s contribution will help improve women’s safety and increase their access to legal assistance. 2/2

In turbulent times, strong institutions matter. @antonioguterres and I discussed the importance of free passage through the Strait of Hormuz, vital for global trade and stable prices, and for the safe transit of essential goods like fertilizer to vulnerable countries. 1/2

I emphasized that NL remains fully committed to a rules-based multilateral system, with the UN at its core. Protecting what matters most, from global trade to humanitarian aid. We stand firmly behind the UN's principles. Not as words on paper, but as commitments we uphold. 2/2

At #HRC61, the Kingdom of the Netherlands reiterated its support for the UN Fact-Finding Mission and the Special Rapporteur on #Iran, expressing deep concern over persistent human rights violations, executions, repression of women and minorities, and internet shutdowns.

#HRC61 | The Kingdom of the Netherlands, on behalf of the Benelux countries 🇧🇪🇳🇱🇱🇺, calls on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (#DPRK) for an immediate end to the ongoing systematic, widespread and grave human rights violations.
