@CBCIza @ronmortgageguy They discriminate against people working in cannabis all the time. Even the OCS (a government agency that generates billions) had difficulty getting a bank to work with them

@ronmortgageguy Are banks allowed to discriminate based upon sector of employment? Now steel and aluminum, what if it was porn or oil sector? It make sense financially if tariffs are on the wall however, I was under the impression (mistakenly I guess) that they were only tracking incomes

@ColinDMello Then why is there a 150m barrier required for cannabis retail stores? There is no consumption there either.

Premier Doug Ford is asked about convenience stores selling booze near schools. Ford asks for fairness and says convenience stores aren’t the same as save consumption sites. He zeroes in on the issue of discarded needles which, he says, you don’t see outside convenience store. #onpoli

Progress not perfection, our petition was heard! 10mg on the interior package but exterior up to carry limit. Next step will be to remove the additional wrappers but this is monumental. gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2024/…

@ruedagento Do you mean recommendation 14? A “serving” would be a more appropriate unit of measure than “dose”because recreational cannabis is not prescribed/therapeutic in this context. Any other criticisms? Anything you agree with?

@NORMLCanada Some of your responses go against public health principles (eg edibles) and others against science and common sense (eg standard unit). This last one is particularly uninformed as you seem to confuse a standard THC unit with serving or recommended dose

@ruedagento Actually all suggestions support health objectives, public safety objectives, and displacement of the unregulated market. Our response also understands the nuance of various issues and is realistic to the current market trends and reality.

@NORMLCanada Un unserious response to a serious report. Many recommendations simply go against the main objective of the Cannabis Act (“The purpose of this Act is to protect public health and public safety”) and others capriciously go against science and common sense (e.g, standard unit).

Some recommendations are contrary to what we would want (edible limits and increased enforcement) we applaud the panel for recognizing the need for excise reform, business supports from the government and collaboration with FN and equity deserving people. canada.ca/en/health-cana…

Edibles may not be the biggest Cannabis category, but the 10mg limit on legal edibles gives consumers a compelling reason to shop illicit. If the government is serious about combating the illicit market - and reducing incidents of pediatric thc intoxication - they will raise the thc limit on safe legal edibles that include child safety measures!

The answer to shutting down the illicit market is not increasing store caps, it's taking the gloves off. The govt expects us to "out retail" the illicit market, and yet they shackle us with an excise tax that makes legal products 2x the price of illicit! globalnews.ca/news/10229916/…

@Sarah_Colero Correct. This is in the context of recreational cannabis and the OCS in response to other provinces allowing recreational mail order.

Great to see some progress in Alberta. This is progress (not perfection) and would be great to see other provinces follow suit. alberta.ca/release.cfm?xI…
