Landlords are bailing out. New research shows that some 254,000 buy-to-let properties in Britain came on to the market in the year to the end of March. That's 700 a day & it's an increase of 28% over 2024. Taxing & regulating landlords out of the market will result in tenants paying higher rents. It's such an obvious point but many politicians refuse to understand it.

@HBarca71 @CutMyTaxUK Correct. And the people who will be hit hardest will of course be renters. Properties are being snapped up by banks, organisations such as blackrock/ Vanguard etc & the private sector. In the short term, the result is less housing stock, longer term we all rent everything.

They are finally starting to realise that it is actually tenants who will be fucked more. Less housing stock, more tenants...and you guessed it...higher rents. The government wins every time.

I've just got a panicked message from a dear friend who's been served an eviction notice by their landlord. He wants to sell. They have three children, always paid rent on time. They even offered to pay more rent as they love the property, + never had issues with the landlord, but he's not interested. He told them to go to their MP (she's Labour) This is a disaster. Are local authorities ready for what is coming as a result of this?

Okay is anyone else's skin burning way faster than normal in the UK right now? It feels like the sun is far more intense... Even my darker skinned friends are saying they are feeling a new intensity to the sun. But it's only like 21 degrees Celsius... It's weird.

@Jenny_1884 I use suncream without the worst offending ingredients because when I go on holiday, I'm in the sun all day. However, in the 5 days before I go, I keep upping my VitD tablet dose which makes the skin less likely to burn, and means I only need suncream for a few days.
