“From April 6, most new recipients of the health element of UC will see their extra payment cut from £430 a month to just £217.” Research highlights small jobs impact of extra DWP support, just as ministers use it to justify cuts - @johnpringdns disabilitynewsservice.com/research-highl…

The government is reportedly considering triggering the break clause in Palantir’s NHS data contract. It's a no-brainer - this break clause is an exit ramp and the government should take it.

Official stats show that 356,521 UK households had their benefits shut down after because they didn't make a claim following a #UniversalCredit migration notice. Key reasons for this were confusion, feeling overwhelmed or believing they earnt too much. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…

@NSFTCrisis @UKLabour On Newsnight on Wednesday Matthew Syed said the benefits system is out of control, highlighting disability benefits. It is a myth perpetuated by too many journalists and politicians. We need to repeatedly share key facts like this in the FT to counter it.

We would like to see this article. We suspect that the figures are incorrect. Possibly ppl counted twice. Claimants have been forced to migrate to UC from legacy benefits for several years now. It has been ramped up under @UKLabour

'Projected total welfare payments, at around 11% of national income a year, are lower than when David Cameron was prime minister even though there are more pensioners' '...non-pensioner benefits have hovered between 4 and 5% of GDP for over 40 years.' #selection-1953.26-1953.161" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">archive.ph/KCz0F#selectio

I have a severe Long Covid symptom: an allergy to people who tweet here anonymously telling me eg that I had a cold, that Covid doesn't exist, that being put on a ventilator killed me.

We submitted evidence to the parliamentary inquiry into the accessibility of the House of Commons for disabled MPs, staff and visitors. We're pleased that its first report has been published, quoting our evidence. Read the report and our evidence 👇 buff.ly/hdUZsFZ

Of course he finds it peculiar. Self-sacrifice, hypothetical or not, is foreign to the self-serving. I love my city and my constituents. But the authoritarian right is an existential threat. We need the best chance of turning this around. That’s Andy, not Wes

“It’s a peculiar thing for him to say, it’s like telling his constituents: ‘I’m not interested in being your MP.’” Reacting to Clive Lewis offering up his seat to Andy Burnham, @wesstreeting says his own government puts too much emphasis on personality politics.

Latest SMT brings in their pals from outside this Trust whilst staff reapply for their jobs and SUs continue to suffer and die, disgustingly their newly appointed deputy director for safety and security brags about his pension on Facebook. @dhannant87 @labourlewis

Unpaid carers save the UK £184 billion a year and without us the health and social care system in the UK would collapse, but you won't report that will you? "Centre for Care research found that the economic value of the support provided by unpaid carers in the UK is now £184 billion a year. This research builds on three separate reports that were part of the Centre for Care’s Valuing Carers series. These reports highlighted the value of care in England and Wales (£162 billion), Northern Ireland (£5.8 billion), and Scotland (£15.9 billion). This new research shows there has been a huge increase in the value of unpaid care in the UK – up by £64.9 billion since 2011 – a 29% increase. This increase is because families are providing more hours of care than ever before in all four nations."
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

More than 4million Universal Credit claimants now have no requirement to work - that's predominantly people who are sick along with students and those with caring responsibilities The rise is extraordinary - it's gone up from from 2.896million in October 2024 to 4.027million in October 2025, a **39% rise** in the space of a year The government has long-grassed any significant welfare reforms after being forced to abandon changes following a mass revolt by Labour MPs. Few think they are possible given Starmer's fragile authority There is a putative welfare bill but there is as yet no date for it and no clarity on what will actually be in it In the meantime the numbers continue to rise exponentially
