In my opinion that drive from Bryson on nine is why Bryson is good for the game. That doesn’t mean I’m a fan, I’m not. But I appreciate what he brings to the game. He creates emotion. That’s what makes sports great. Even other players enjoy it at times. Scottie, Hatton and Bryson were all laughing after the drive about the line he took. Same thing happened at bay hill years ago when he hit it over the water. We were all tuned in. And lastly, at his best, he’s one of the best players in the world. More than any sport golf needs more characters imo. Bryson is that. Part showman, part pro, and a lot of villain. All of which makes people tune in.

R&A CEO Mark Darbon was asked this morning about how the org feels about the rise in YouTube golf, and what role it might play. “We could have staged a Creator Classic [prior to the Open.] We chose instead to do a last chance qualifying that’s more in line with our traditions.”

Any more context here? Can’t tell if this is supposed to be like a dig at YouTube golf. The RNA rolled out the red carpet for Horvat and the Bryan Bros major cut series. They played Birkdale, Lytham, St Andrews and many other Open courses. They shut down the course for the Birkdale video.

Prosecute them for trespassing.
