Sadly, just qualifying for majors appears to be the ultimate goal anymore. His final round yesterday showed an almost total lack of focus and drive to compete.
He started the day -1, one shot ahead of his good friend and infinitely tougher competitor, Justin Thomas, who found himself with the clubhouse lead most of the day after shooting -5. 10 strokes better than Fowler’s 75, who apparently has the yips when chipping from rough. And once again whose wedge game is not even competitive.
Several years ago Butch Harmon told Rickie who was obsessed with his phone and his marketing gigs that he needed to choose between being a winner on tour or being a Kardashian. Rickie still hasn’t chosen the former.

I, for one, cannot believe that Lee Westwood—a man who sits on Twitter all day looking to pick fights over every perceived slight not only to himself but to others (simp!)—did not have the intestinal fortitude to ever win a major championship. Meanwhile, he had to sit and watch (we all know he was glued just like all the other LIV weirdos who say they aren't) as a fellow countryman and relative unknown to the casual golf fan, Aaron Rai, just put his head down and went to work at Aronimink on Sunday, achieving something he'll never achieve despite not having anywhere near the talent Westwood possessed in his prime. Just an unbelievably tough scene.
