🚨 Mayor Adams has declared a Local State of Emergency for New York City, effective immediately, Thursday, July 31, 2025, due to heavy rain and flash flooding. The order remains in effect through Friday, August 1, at 8 a.m. Flash flooding can happen with little or no warning. Water can rise quickly, blocking roads, subways, and emergency access. Immediate actions for all New Yorkers: • Avoid all non-essential travel until Friday morning. Use public transit only if travel is unavoidable. • If you live in a basement or flood-prone ground-floor apartment, relocate now. Do not wait for water to enter. • NYPD precincts are open if you have no safe higher-floor or higher-ground options. City agencies are fully mobilized to protect public safety and maintain critical operations. • Alternate Side of the Street parking rules will be suspended on Friday, August 1, to facilitate weather operations. Parking meters will remain in effect.
