The Spurs shot 7/24 (29%) from 3 tonight and Victor Wembanyama's absence was felt:
— Wemby's gravity inside creates open 3s + his spacing outside creates driving lanes for Fox, Harper, and Castle that lead to open 3s. That was all tough to come by in Game 2
— 24 of 86 total shots is their lowest 3PA distribution since opening night
— San Antonio led the NBA in corner 3s. They took only 4 corner 3s tonight. Their low during the season was 10
Wemby is the difference-maker. He tilts the court for the Spurs on offense just as much as he dictates opponent shot selection when he's on defense. That was so apparent again tonight.
The Spurs have a lot of talent on their roster, but in my opinion, they need will Wemby to return from his concussion to beat this very tough Blazers team that thrives defensively (#3 DRTG since mid-Feb) and has an elite driver in Deni Avdija. Especially going to Portland for the next two games. Wemby is that important. Some might even say the Most Valuable Player.

Pretty unbelievable turn of events for Orlando to go from where the Magic were last Wednesday to obliterate Charlotte and then go into Detroit and win tonight. Pretty much no one outside of Orlando saw that one coming, and we have at least one spicy series now!

Under this line in 7/L8 games when taking 15 or less FGA. Expecting similar volume in this one. Overall a tough spot for Brooks. One of the tougher scoring matchups for him in the league. Healthy Suns lineup eating up some of his volume. 14.5 spread so always a possibility of a blowout which would only help this spot. We will tip the cap if he covers but we like the under!
