I think there is much more to the 2000s than just nostalgia:

It’s because Sonic literally has never said this before and it comes across incredibly forced when it’s randomly something Sonic says EVERY single game There’s also the fact that Game Sonic’s actual common phrases have been completely ditched for no reason but this isn’t lol

If we wanna talk solely about the quality and output of games then every era is inconsistent. The series itself, at this time, felt the most like itself imo. The games and stories were the most creative and unique they’ve ever been.
