As accounting authority and head of SAPS, Gen Masemola bears overall responsibility for procurement under the PFMA. He testified that he didn't sign off the tender - it "doesn't come to my desk". It was signed off by the Divisional Head Supply Chain Management. He also testified he cancelled it at the instruction of Minister Mchunu. Perhaps he has been summoned to court over his oversight role?🤔 Is it a case of the buck stops with the head?

The President has further noted the arrests of the 12 senior police officers on a procurement related matter. President Ramaphosa will be addressing the matter concerning General Masemola in accordance with the law.
