On June 1st, UnitedHealthcare @UHC will implement a policy that will make it harder for people are most likely to get #colorectalcancer to get access to colonoscopies. Read here from me and @statnews statnews.com/2023/05/15/uni… 🧵 to follow with some details!

Don't be fooled by @UHC's PR stunt to allow endo for now, but bury MDs under paperwork & then implement the same flawed GI endo #priorauth when they launch the Gold Card in 2024. We'll be fighting this same fight again the fall for sure!

Today, @UHC implemented an ambiguous Advance Notification Program in place of its #priorauth policy for GI endoscopy. What does this mean? It is a temporary delay. It will be detrimental to patients & lead to more admin burdens. 😠 Details: ow.ly/PanN50OBYtO. #StopUHC 🚫

🤔 "But facing sharp pushback from physician groups, the insurer late Wednesday announced it would instead put in place an alternative advance notification process that requires clinicians to collect and submit patient data before performing a procedure." axios.com/2023/06/01/uni…

We hope @UHC heard the voices of our #ibd pts who are tired of having every aspect of their care 2nd guessed by insurance companies. Prior auth for every IBD-related procedure will delay impt medical decisions. @CrohnsColitisFn @AmerGastroAssn

Where's the data, @UHC? The Advance Notification Program being implemented today won't help patients — ultimately, it will control access to life-saving procedures & could be WORSE for patient care. @barbarahjung and @Shivan_Mehta explain in @MHExecutive. ow.ly/LbKH50OBPsQ
