Math would be a lot funnier if we allowed sets to have more than one median. Do you know why? Because they'd be called co-medians!

Love this point on the new @Assess_THAT episode quoting @leeannjung, "Formality is not akin to validity." Important to ponder for those who automatically trust curricular resource canned assessments over their own assessment architecture.

@pwharris For both fractions there is a difference of 5 between the num are denom. the 5 units in the 6/11ths is smaller than the 5 units in the 4/9 because of the size of the cuts (denom) which means 6/11 is greater since 6 is closer to 11.

When…. WHEN will we stop labeling other ppls babies?! We would NEVER call our own kids “low kids” or “iep kids.” It seems small, but LANGUAGE matters. It impacts how we show up for kids.

@howie_hua 4 groups of 25 is 100. So 12 groups (triple-triple) is 300. 25 makes me think quarters.

@howie_hua I’d do 240 + 120 so times 10 and times half of that put it together for 360

Are your ss struggling w/math facts? @JBayWilliams reveals we need to build on ss strengths. Ss need explicit strategy instruction which is NOT the same as direct instruction & practice should be centered around choosing/using strategies, not drill and kill. #NCTMDC23
