The CIA made us redact parts of this novel (seriously) before finally approving its publication. Oyken spent his entire career working on special projects inside the agency and then wrote a book based on his experiences.
The novel is very funny. Perfect summer reading.

This is your last day to pre-order Sam R. OYKEN's brilliant CIA satire The Pickle Factory. (It goes on sale tomorrow.) passage.press/products/pickle

we’re in uncharted territory. there is no book that teaches you how to build software in 2026. everyone is learning from first principles

@SlackingLotus @rawmilkhoney really sorry to hear this. I hope things get better
English

@rawmilkhoney yeah well every interaction with my wife is a coin flip of whether she’ll tell me she loves me and wants us to be together forever or she’ll tell me she’s divorcing me and there’s nothing I can do to change her mind. So could be worse

@NateTheSpy @GarrettPetersen Adventure RPG with a novel turn-based combat system and unusual structural framework for me.

@SlackingLotus @GarrettPetersen Myself im working on a crowdsource version of balatro where anyone can suggest new joker-analogues and they actually get implemented into the game

@SlackingLotus @GarrettPetersen all the sprites from the scene and it does a pretty good job. so in other words they can decompose a scene into individual sprites which allows for interesting dev loops
English

@SlackingLotus @GarrettPetersen same exact story for me. I think the asset generation path has improved a lot since then but it's still where most of the work (prompting and reprompting) is for my small gamedev projs. Maybe there's better tools out there now for cohesive good assets and even animations, idk
English

@GarrettPetersen How are you approaching art/assets? I was literally prototyping a pirate sim for a couple weeks with Claude Code in spring of last year, and stalled out there more than on code assembly.

@ThePrimeagen and yes i know everything is engagement bait but i still feel like talking like a human now and then
English

@ThePrimeagen dude it's completely true. i am a paying customer of yours. accept the fact that your job is talking shit and people are rightfully stating that you have been talking shit. welcome to 2022

I am now a fan of AI dev, took a long time but I find them very capable now.
I still read a lot of code, write a lot of code, but I am much more of a fan now.
The thing I am liking a lot right now is structure refactoring. I want to change an entire way i am doing something. I can explore so many different styles and come to the conclusion of the one i like the best
