@robr7373 They do make it up as they go along. Those pens we had against us at the start of the season had no intention either but were given. This one he was fouling Barry and used his hand to knock the ball out of play. And then they get a goal kick 🤣

@MarilynParrott2 @MichelleDewbs Olympics maybe, but marathon is the epitome of for "the taking part" Almost no one does a marathon to actually win it but the challenge of taking part

@MichelleDewbs To compete in the Olympics or a marathon competitors need the determination to win, not come second or third best. It’s not just “the taking part” that’s important, it’s the fight to be best that’s character building.

My 5 year old boy does football training. At the end of the session they do a ‘man of the match’ type thing. My boy is always desperate to win it. He often doesn’t. I explained to him the other day that he didn’t win simply because he wasn’t good enough. That he deffo could win, but he just needs to be better, try harder, be more focused etc. One of the other mums heard me & was aghast at what I said. She told me she is going to get ‘runner-up stickers’ for all the kids who don’t make it. I said no thanks, not for my son. Kids need to learn that they can be the best, but they must apply themselves & dust themselves off when it doesn’t go their way. No consolation prizes, no ‘everyone’s a winner’ etc. There are winners & losers. Wanna win - do your best. Can’t make it? Don’t worry, go & smash something else. Play to your strengths & never, ever play the victim. If more parents & institutions had this attitude, the country would be in a better place - if I say so myself 😉 Cc @KonstantinKisin x.com/KonstantinKisi…

Does honesty pay? Haaland could have reacted theatrically to Gabriel and got him sent off, and a 3-match ban. Arsenal have cover but Gabriel would have been a loss. Haaland is honest. Stayed on his feet. PL Key Match Incidents panel says Gabriel should have got red not yellow 1/2

@robr7373 You referring to the Bournemouth one? I'd have booked him for diving. Never a penalty in a million years

Swatting the ball away with your hand - no pen and a goal kick Barely touching a player - penalty. Officials in the PL are absolutely garbage

@moreofaswimmer1 Id happily have var if it was purely for the clear and obviously wrong (like this). It however is about re-referreeing the game. Plus Hawkeye fixes this particular issue as it is objective

A lot depends on what happens with Jack Grealish and Tyrique George, but Everton could do a lot worse than signing Abde Ezzalzouli from Real Betis.

Everton fans are fuming that this wasn’t given as a red card and a penalty with no attempt to play the ball ❌ Right or wrong? 🤔

@JimCognito2016 @LoobyDoo5 @RachelReevesMP Not the best argument when you know who was in power in 09..... The actual point is their business model is clearly flawed and most people would rather buy cheap stuff from IKEA

BTW a footnote from yesterday, Tarkowski and O'Brien were utterly disgraceful in their treatment of Garnacho. There’s a line and and those two crossed and it was a fucking joy to watch 😆😆😆😆💙 #EFC

@TightToffee @HLTCO I've always loved that 1920s version. Other than that I prefer the current one. All about opinions 😃

@HLTCO These badges and crests have always changed, and many Everton fans, for example, will have very different views as to which they prefer or compare to the present. Alan Ball's Everton famously had no badge on the shirt at all

@Aidan_Golf @PaulKirton_ Fair play to them then. In all my years I've only known it once for a team to not put some subs on (u14)

@NathanBouncing @PaulKirton_ I don’t think it is. We are equal game time until 11-a-side when it moves to fair game time. We have 14 leagues in Sheffield and a lot of the top leagues still promote this. I have never seen a player not get a game.

These are kids, they deserve to play. Not even 1 minute of game time.
Gareth@GJH2882

@PaulKirton_ This weekend my lad was reffing an u11 game and the away team had 10 players for 9v9 and one player didn’t get 1 minute. Just stood in the cold in his kit with a hoody on watching. Needless to say his parents were fuming.

@Aidan_Golf @PaulKirton_ To be fair the vast majority of youth coaches do it because their own kids are in the team. It is difficult to balance giving fair playing time whilst also acknowledging that football at it's heart is a competitive sport. Still not playing one minute is unacceptable

@PaulKirton_ I just don’t understand why these coaches get involved in grass roots. Do they wake up one day dreaming of winning the u11s bolton league D and just need 9 kids to make that dream come true?

I know - my position doesn’t seem logical. Instinctively it makes sense “we are giving food to hungry kids”, and you think I am a terrible person. The thing is. Imagine you are a person working long hours for not much money. You pay rent, your bills are going up. Over the road there are people living in better houses than you, getting free food for their kids, getting paid roughly the same as you. Do you a) continue working? Or b) Sack it off and claim benefits? You have to think about what incentives you offer and what behaviour it creates. Of course we should feed kids who are hungry, but we should do this through social services and targeted support. Not blanket handouts.

@davidinaword @sophielouisecc Genuinely interested to understand how you see this as an incentive to NOT work, rather than removing a barrier to get people to work?

@sophielouisecc The Labour Party is pleased to announce we are further removing incentives to work for a larger population of adults, resulting in higher taxes and reduced productivity. Onwards to further success!

@Claytoification @HLTCO If it's clear and obvious, don't even need that long. 3 goes at ten second clips. Then on field decision unless it was clearly wrong

@HLTCO Needs to be a time limit enforced of about a minute. If you cant decide whether an offence has been committed after a minute, it can't be clear and obvious

Is there value in a system that only allows VAR officials and by extension referees looking at monitors to view potential fouls at full speed rather than slow-motion? Am I talking bollocks here or would that not help the whole “clear and obvious” element to be cut and dried?
