Lol, I love that the mayor was fully willing to blame city council until I pointed out that the city attorney had full license to execute the contract. Now he’s willing to admit that the city attorney reports to “BOTH” branches of government. Gaslighting —> backtracking 😂

It’s easy to make promises…… This is why it’s so important to hold electeds accountable. Track their promises. Question them. Mayors Like to Promise the Moon. Only a Few Get Close governing.com/urban/mayors-l…

Folks want BeltLine rail. I remember going to a MARTA presentation on MoreMARTA in O4W when they wanted to pass the sales tax increase. Folks were suspicious and finally MARTA said if you want to fund BeltLine rail, here’s how. Let’s keep our promises. @beltlinerailnow
Eric Phillips@HowEPhil

53% of citywide respondents in a 2018 survey, 2 years following More MARTA’s passing, picked Eastside BeltLine Rail as a top 3 project to be funded by More MARTA.

@JoelMBeall At some point it seems like it would smarter for PIF to drop LIV and sponsor an influencer tour with Bryson doing cameos and just beef up the Asian Tour

Final Koepka note - this is not LIV Golf’s eulogy. It’s a soft power exercise not a sports league, and has unlimited resources still at disposal. But if they fail again to sign a big name-and worth reminding that Rahm is the only star that’s jumped since ‘22-what is the roadmap?

When I lived in DC, I’d take the bus to Rock Creek, walk from the Smithsonian metro station to East Potomac, make friends with strangers on the X2 metro bus to Langston. These courses brought together folks from all walks of life. We should all hope the good work of NLT continues

1/ This is a story about my brother, Mike McCartin. I’m convinced that if the President, his administration, and his supporters actually understood why Mike started The National Links Trust, they wouldn’t be trying to kill it. They’d be backing it.

Mayor Andre Dickens’ administration successfully gutted legislation to restrict how the city can spend its Affordable Housing Trust Fund. “I feel like we’ve moved in the opposite direction of what this was intended to do,” Councilmember Alex Wan said. atlantaciviccircle.org/2025/12/02/atl…

*If* Atlanta TAD extension is approved with the same $5.5 billion price tag, things like the pedestrian connection between Atlantic Station & Amtrak Station on Peachtree are the types of “move the needle” projects that could & should be on the list.
Test Chamber Defect@LathburyJason

The lead-track would go through the recently-available lumber mill site, which is itself a brownfield site in need of remediation. Long-term, this should be redeveloped, for now we can just use it. I would also suggest a ped-connection to Atlantic Station.

@Urban_Connector Bill Kennedy Way wasn’t originally going to have that trail until the Southside was built. The community convinced ABI to move forward with an important interim connection. So there’s precedent

Just because a street has sidewalks, that doesn't automatically make it a nice place to walk. I guess this is "walkable" but why would you want to? Truly walkable places need the presence of active spaces at sidewalk level, plus the absence of car-oriented sludge.

@HowEPhil And what happens when we get a new mayor in 4 years who has different priorities for the TAD revenue? What’s to prevent projects from dying like the Streetcar East Extension?

2x the More MARTA budget! We need a say on the projects! Where’s housing for homeless? Eastside BeltLine Rail? Parks for Campbellton, Metropolitan, & Westside? Safe intersections? Participatory budgets? Mechanicsville infill station? Why is blight fund 7th highest amount?
Doug Shipman, Atlanta City Council President@DougShipmanATL

The TAD proposal is a generational decision that is larger than 5 annual general fund budgets We need residents to weigh in on the list and your overall view in using your taxes in this way

@jjcroftiv @HowEPhil How many of them drove to the BeltLine? How many of them are using it for leisure vs transportation? It also speaks to the lack of walkable places in Atlanta. People literally drive to the BeltLine. We should make more of the City be as pleasant to walk.

@HowEPhil No, I've interviewed dozens of people on the Beltline. Not one randomly selected person has said they want a train or a train ride. Second, people are literally strolling the Beltline without a train. Why do you think they're doing there?

Speak for yourself- people pay top dollar to have that experience. You just have a vision of what you think you want.
John@jjcroftiv

@HowEPhil No one wants to eat next to a train line with concrete barriers, or walk a quarter mile to a crossing point. The train will kill the reason people want to be on the Beltline.

Atlantans- less than 30 days until early voting starts. City Council, Mayor, Board of Education, & Georgia’s Public Service Commission seats on the ballot. Most important thing you can do is talk about preferred candidates to friends/2+ people a day. Try to multiply your vote!
