As a Canadian, the response from so many of my fellow Canadians is shocking to me. Somehow a lot of people are acting like this is all Trump’s doing. It looks to me like this is Carney’s doing. He deliberately chose to cancel the joint ceremony and disinvite the United States from the opening of a bridge that Canada built. That is a petty, thin-skinned, and childish move that is deliberately pissing off our largest trading partner. Canadians are raging about Trump when it was Carney who failed on this.They need to grow up ! No one forced Kearney to sign that deal. Turning the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge into a political snub doesn’t protect Canadian workers or exporters — it just makes us look small and reactive. This is unbecoming of a first-world country that claims high values and moral standards.
