Genuine question, are cave explorers not worried about the water down there in regards to bacteria and diseases? I can't imagine pools of probably stagnant water probably full of bat shit is very good for you.

This is important. He's almost entirely wrong, but not quite. Cortisol release is intensity-dependent. While work >~60% VO2max increases cortisol, work <50-60% VO2max decreases cortisol below baseline levels. That is, it's a de-stressor that stabilizes your metabolism. In other words, the metabolic health of the athlete has a lot to do with how they train & how much of it is at moderate-high intensities.

But also…each banana costs like 10-20 cents, it’s really not a big deal if a couple get wasted.

Opposing gay marriage was/is one of the biggest conservative Ls ever.
Legalising it has:
- raised the prestige of monogamous long-term marriages among gay men
- made being gay less of a clandestine secret culture
- integrated gay men as productive members of society with many positive effects
So everything conservatives *should* want came from its legalisation, despite it having been something they opposed.

I tell my students that they have to use AI to help write papers. I give them guidance on how they can effectively do this. I think I'm giving them more practical help than if I forced them to write without AI. This past semester, one student even asked me if she had to use AI and I said yes.

If it’s beyond their ability then they shouldn’t cite it. Asking professionals and academics to keep the same standard traditionally expected of high school students is a pretty low bar

So this means you expect every author to check every citation and make sure that every citation is real and accurate? What if it's beyond the ability of one of the authors to verify one of the citations because that citation is in a language he doesn't know or concerns technical material he doesn't understand but another author on the paper does?

Setting that aside, $8 a meal is much cheaper than $28.
