One fascinating consequence of GLP-1s/Ozempic: For decades, people said that big pharma would never release actually effective obesity drugs because they’d lose too much money from downstream chronic disease treatment. We’re seeing almost the exact opposite.

1. Euro tax systems differ from the US in taxing the middle and working class more, not taxing the rich more. 2. On net, higher taxes + free health insurance would make most middle class people better off. 3. US *poor* benefit from getting Medicaid without paying VAT.

@dilanesper Is it possible that there’s been a degradation in the quality of security, in the secret service?

@pipes_46 @big_pedestrian With bananas, you wanna try to buy them at various stages of ripeness, ideally. And you can actually refrigerate them once they’re ripe and extend their life a couple days. But also…each banana costs like 10-20 cents, it’s really not a big deal if a couple get wasted.

Opposing gay marriage was/is one of the biggest conservative Ls ever. Legalising it has: - raised the prestige of monogamous long-term marriages among gay men - made being gay less of a clandestine secret culture - integrated gay men as productive members of society with many positive effects So everything conservatives *should* want came from its legalisation, despite it having been something they opposed.

There are early signs that monogamy is on the upswing once again, even amongst groups that are currently less monogamous than average.

@Karai_Dan @MikeMangumx Yeah this is not a thing I suppose there are some women out there who will judge guys for prepping their own food, but those are probably not women you wanna be dating anyway

This is the weirdest one I’ve seen. “If I can’t eat out every day or order UberEats how will I ever get married?” Do these people read what they type before hitting post? Is this an elaborate comedy bit from Gen Z?

Oh my god you don’t just use the items once, and you don’t have to buy $12 mayonnaise. I started out defending these people but, you know what? They deserve whatever it is that’s happening to them.

@Awk20000 It’s literally so much more expensive to make a sandwich yourself and there’s so much food waste.

@Politcal_Shank @Investmentkage Add potatoes. They’re nutrient dense sources of carbs and they’re cheap and easy to cook (just pierce and cook in microwave for 5-9 min depending on size). It’s only hard if you make it hard.

@Investmentkage FYI, you eat this 3x a day, you WILL die of starvation. It's not enough calories for a desk job. Let alone anyone with a active lifestyle or manual labor. you'd be looking at more expensive nutrient dense meals 1x a day min, or eating 'junk food' empty calories just to survive.

@NPWhite717 It’s seriously not that hard to verify whether a reference at least EXISTS — even if you can’t understand the language or accurately interpret the findings.

@GilbertGulag @beasstify @DylanGTech @StephenKentX But you don’t buy a jar of salt and jar of pepper and four sticks of butter for each meal, or even a block of 4 prepped meals — they are distributed across dozens of meals. That’s kind of the point of meal prep.

@Natural_Fallacy @beasstify @DylanGTech @StephenKentX You dont get to buy salt and pepper per serving, you buy the whole container. I was being generous with $10. I already said it was cheaper, but its still too much for what it is lol The economy is failing, gaslighting about someone's lunch choices isnt going to get them a house
