@JAllen_NYC Practical in a few ways but overall just horrible for the future of NYC. These public union pensions are going to blow up the NYC budget as the economy stalls.

@MZavagno11 Any idea how often Cavs went zone in reg season? I think Kenny did it to battle tired legs but maybe he just outsmarted himself.

My biggest adjustment for G3 is to play defense straight up. Fight over screens, hedge to touch when needed, stop ignoring Hart, stop switching JH/DM onto Brunson. Roll the ball out and play. If Brunson scores 50 by making 20 2s, so be it

Every week, nearly 500,000 cars violate street cleaning regulations, preventing us from sweeping more than 3000 miles of streets. YOUR street suffers when SOMEONE ELSE breaks the rules. We HATE that! We want to keep New York City clean, and you do too - right? Yesterday, the New York City Council voted YES on new state legislation to help us do our jobs. Now we need Albany to act!

This is a dumb post. 1. NYC has a noise code that applies to everyone -- consistent and consistently enforced rules are what enables people to live in close proximity to each other in piece. 2. This just using culture to attempt to avoid the rules to cynically monetize something. Follow the rules and have fun!
Antonio Reynoso@BKBPReynoso

If you're filing noise complaints against Brooklyn's oldest lesbian bar during Pride, you might be in the wrong neighborhood.   This has been a home for queer Brooklynites for 26 years. Ginger's deserves better.

@JAllen_NYC He doesn't have that power. Independent boards needs to revoke them I believe, and that is very hard to do.

But will he revoke their credentials? He should!
Henry Rosoff@HenryRosoff

🚨JUST NOW: @NYCMayor says these people should not have been credentialed. Says the city will review its policies, adapt to modern times, but says these are clearly not reporters/journalists.

Living in NY is expensive as hell. Those LIRR workers deserve all the money they can get

@photonguerilla @al171148 100 million rides is not 100 million people. What do you think the median income of those taking the LIRR is and what do you think the median LIRR ticket cost?

@al171148 I'm asking do you know where the money comes from? Where do you think the MTA gets its money?

@keithdorejel @RidleyDM @RileyTX Tech billionaires may be the biggest rent seekers in history. Argue the contract the MTA is offering vs. what the union is demanding. All I see you doing is virtue signaling.

@Navglad @RidleyDM @RileyTX No one ever calls tech billionaires rent seekers. I’m noting that this rhetoric is designed to draw a line between inappropriate forms of influencing government policy and supposedly appropriate forms

I will never understand how some people can see a group of people with a strong union making a good living and come away with the feeling that the problem is those workers and not your own lack of a strong union.

@keithdorejel @RidleyDM @RileyTX I don't want tech billionaires mooching off my tax dollars and I also don't want public unions doing the same thing. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

@RidleyDM @RileyTX But you’re fine with millions in taxpayer dollars for data centers transferred to tech billionaires even when communities express overwhelming hostility towards them. I mean seems like just class inflected hypocrisy to me.

So much discourse about the LIRR strike is just classic petite bourgeois jealousy and insecurity. They’re mad that railroad workers who don’t have a college degree make more money than they do as white collar workers
urbanist slop hq@SlopHq

77 LIRR employees made over $250,000 in a single year, almost all of it through overtime stacking enabled by work rules nobody is allowed to renegotiate. the unions aren't striking for a living wage. they're striking for the right to keep gaming the schedule like it's 2003

What's the most dangerous job in America? You might think it's being in the army, or a police officer, or a construction worker But one job has double the amount of people getting disability checks. 75% of LIRR employees are receiving disability checks from the NY Gov.
