More than 50 reforms will make it easier for restaurants, bodegas, barbershops, retailers, and drivers to operate—including killing the absurd second permit restaurants need just to serve ice cream. Less bureaucracy. Lower costs. More time running the business. That is what competent government looks like.

@JLRichy Nope. He did not propose arresting Netanyahu at the UN summit. When asked about the summit, he said he was in active conversations about what the law allowed him to do.

@RefrmDemocracy And as I've explained, the entire point of this discussion was that Zohran was proposing specifically to arrest him when he visits in September for the United Nations meeting. Admit that that would be illegal.

@JLRichy Are you arguing that it's carved out of the CPL's definition of "crime" based on some atextual provision? Are you arguing that it's preempted (even though immigration is not)? You cannot just say that it's a different statute and expect that to pull you across the finish line.

@JLRichy The treaty would prohibit an arrest inside UN headquarters or in transit to or from the headquarters. CIL would prohibit an arrest while he is sitting prime minister. Neither would prohibit an arrest if he visits New York City after vacating office.

@JLRichy Swarovski is law. Polito is law. Wells is law. They all say the same thing, in the context of different kinds of federal statutes -- bank robbery, export control laws, immigration. You're shooting at the hip here.

@kodkod87 You have to go with the language of the statute as interpreted by the courts. Police can make warrantless arrests for crimes in general. Crimes mean federal crimes. You'd need to show some kind of federal preemption.
