Being a Landlord shouldn't be profitable, running an Energy Company shouldn't be profitable, running Healthcare Companies shouldn't be profitable, running a Bank shouldn't be profitable All these companies make profit by ripping everyone off Unless you are running the con you should be against it

Poor turnout at a small boat protest in Dover today, but I think I’ve found this month’s winner of Parent of the Month: a woman marching her lad down the street, waving a flag who's shouting, “Send them home! Whose streets? Our streets!” What chance does the poor kid have?

@SimonFoxWriter @galascotty Growing up is accepting that most immigrants are decent people and when the law looks at their cases the majority are accepted for remaining in the country The consequence of Farage’s hatred are ordinary working people being attacked simply because they are the wrong colour

@climbtechy @BladeoftheS I’d trust the government more than most landlords I’ve experienced. It used to be the local councils provided who were accountable to the people renting the houses.

@BladeoftheS So they would all have to be nationalised, would you really want your own choice of landlord to be the government?

@BladeoftheS Those profits allow public servants pension pots to grow. They go back into research into better healthcare are pay better equipment. Without these profits there would be nothing to invest in the future and society would be poorer for it

I’ve had enough. Today I am writing to the Prime Minister. Every day, small boats carrying people across the Channel continue to arrive on our shores, and this Government appears unable to bring the situation under control. Meanwhile, the cost falls on the British taxpayer through accommodation, processing and public services, while many hardworking people feel they are being pushed further down the list of priorities. As the owner of a small business for 24 years, a property professional and an elected Councillor, for the first time ever I cannot afford to give my staff a pay rise without putting my business at risk. Rising National Living Wage costs, increases to employer National Insurance and an ever-growing burden of employment legislation have added around 28% to our costs just to stand still. We simply cannot increase our prices enough to absorb these costs, and our profits certainly haven’t risen to match. 99.2% of UK businesses are small businesses. We are the backbone of our economy, yet many of us now feel we are being asked to carry an ever-increasing burden while struggling just to survive. I am deeply concerned about the direction this country is taking. I am not happy. And I know I am far from alone. @10DowningStreet @RupertLowe10 @ShabanaMahmood @andyburnham #LetterToThePM #SmallBusiness #EnoughIsEnough #RestoreBritain

Council tax goes up every single year, yet the roads are full of deep potholes, bin collections are cut to bi-weekly, & local services are disappearing. Where is the money actually going?

Sorry if this sounds brutal, but why are the victims' families' views being reported as though they should carry any official weight? The whole reason we *have* a justice system is to take such decisions out of the hands of people who are too emotionally involved to be objective.

Axel Rudakubana, who murdered three children at a dance class in Southport, has been moved from prison to a secure psychiatric hospital. Chris Walker KC, who represents the families, says they are 'deeply upset' at this news and tells @JustinOnWeb what reassurances are needed.

ENT - Education Not Taxation@EducationNotTax·
Dear @LucyMPowell, congratulations on becoming Education Secretary. You said there's "lots to do" and you "look forward to getting started." Here's one place to start: look at the evidence. The Government's tax on independent school fees has now been in place long enough to compare the forecasts with what has actually happened. Using the Government's own data, our latest analysis shows: 📉 43,126 fewer pupils in independent schools – 191% above the Government's forecast for this stage. 💷 State school costs already £242 million higher than forecast. 🏫 Closures of larger independent schools are running at four times the historic rate – and accelerating. These aren't campaign claims. They're the Government's own figures. The question is no longer whether this policy has consequences. The Government's own data shows those consequences are significantly greater than forecast. This should never have been about “93% versus 7%”. Every child matters. Parents should be supported to choose the education that best meets their child's needs – whether that's a state school, an independent school, home education or specialist SEND provision. Parents across the country want to know what you will do differently.  Will you be an Education Secretary for all children, or will you persist in division that has torn schools down, not built them up? Secretary of State, we hope you'll engage with the evidence and help move this debate away from division and back to what matters most: giving every child the best possible education. We stand ready to work constructively with you and welcome a meeting with you and @JohnHealey_MP to discuss the effects of this policy and a better way to improve education for all. You can see the effects for yourself here: educationnottaxation.org/wp-content/upl…

Absolutely thrilled the be appointed Education Secretary. For me there’s no more important job for any government than making sure young people have the best education, the best opportunities and the best future they can. Lots to do and I look forward to getting started.

@Nbscat @moomintroll41 @EducationNotTax @LucyMPowell Angry? I'm not angry😂😂 I find your lack of self awareness - and inability to address a single point - hilarious. Retired at - what 57/60? Your sense of entitlement is a testament to your parents, what an arrogant fool they raised. "supported well being of many students"🤣

@Nbscat @Geordie_Radgie @EducationNotTax @LucyMPowell Ah, a lefty liberal & one of the vote anything but Tory mob-enough said! Most people grow out of that mentality & realise that the Tories have over the years done a lot more good than harm & have to clean up Labour’s harmful mistakes, like this imbecilic VAT on education.

@Geordie_Radgie @moomintroll41 @EducationNotTax @LucyMPowell I know this. I have helped thousands of students over 30+ years, stimulated many into an interest and careers in Science and supported the well being of many students in my care. For that alone I have earned my pension? What good have you done for others in your angry little life

@Nbscat @moomintroll41 @EducationNotTax @LucyMPowell Of course you are a teacher. Explains your unwillingness to address the point, your lack of knowledge of the subject matter, and your blind tribalist loyalty to labour. What a fool you are. Pisa rankings. Trashed by labour. And you. Anyway, enjoy your subsidised pension.
