Scott Sakupwanya’s Scottland Medical Centre and Maternity is now offering free ultrasound scan services every Friday to pregnant mothers living in Mabvuku. Expectant mothers can also access free Antenatal Care (ANC) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the same facility. In addition, Scottland Medical Centre provides a free ambulance service to further support the healthcare needs of the Mabvuku community.

Zimbabwe now has a section of Society that only knows WHAT IT DOESN’T. They live with dilapidated infrastructure, or stalled projects for years, but if some DOERS come forward to get it done, THEY ARE UP in arms. Harare is FILTHY, no refuse collection system for YEARS, BUT they are angry that Delish Nguwaya’s Geopomona signed a deal to procure refuse collection trucks & street sweeping trucks in Brazil. In Bulawayo, @DavidColtart & his colleagues are DEBATING @prophetw_magaya’s offer to renovate White City Stadium. Apparently they prefer a “local investor,” a subtle way of saying we are a “tribal city,” no outsiders can do anything. Egodini Mall project in Bulawayo has been stalled for years, but some are up in arms over the involvement of Scott Sakupwanya in trying to finish off the project. Others whine daily about tenders (that they never apply for) being given to those they hate (for unknown reasons.) But if you ask them, who do you want to get the tender/project? Where is the person and where have they been all along??? They can’t answer that.

It’s not blame, IT’S YOUR REALITY. Most Zimbabweans are like the children of a poor man demanding private jets from their poor parents. The economy is pathetically tiny, the national budget is just $6 billion, we can’t get anything big done from there. EVERYONE, including the politicians need to accept that reality and work on changing it. Otherwise, IT DOESN’T MATTER who becomes president, they will just be stuck with little money to fund the citizens’ needs. I really salute President @edmnangagwa for DOING A LOT with so little. Surprisingly, ungrateful people can’t see that he is doing what those before him failed to do, and he is doing EXTRAORDINARILY WELL. Zimbabwe is a small developing country, don’t compare it with advanced economies in Europe or the rich South Africa.

Another annual speech pilgrimage to Stellenbosch, just outside Cape Town, to speak to the new cohort of African Leadership Institute Fellows. It is always a great honour to be invited to speak to Africa’s finest minds, young leaders who will shape Africa’s future. It is an opportunity not only to share my personal experiences and thoughts as a journalist, documentary filmmaker and anti-corruption activist, but also to learn from these young leaders. Africa is one of the richest pieces of real estate globally in terms of natural resources, but it is the lack of good, visionary leaders that has made it a laughing stock and one of the poorest of the poor basket cases. We are living in historic times where nationalism is the new patriotism, and where collective defence against bad political leadership is the only way for citizens to survive. But how do we do this in the absence of good leaders putting their hands up? Nature does not like a vacuum, Africa has ended up with those without ideas having power, and those with ideas being powerless. We are comfortable in our little 54 fractured states, and at times fighting wars against each other, yet those who once openly exploited us continue to laugh at us due to our disorderly leadership, whose mainstay is through the gun and not ideas. As Dr Nkosana Moyo once said, Africa is one place where even the animals are ahead of us, because they know the importance of protecting their young ones to ensure that their species survive for many generations to come. Yet our leaders are ensuring the churn of future generations of uneducated, unskilled, unprepared young adults, stuck in untold poverty and disease. These young people have no access to the continent’s rich mineral resources to help position Africa among the leading places on earth, they are by-standers of Africa’s never ending great robbery. Africa is one of the few places on earth where dictators like Emmerson Mnangagwa still imprison journalists for exposing corruption. I am grateful to the African Leadership Institute, in conjunction with the University of Oxford and all the corporates involved, for this opportunity not only to speak to young African leaders, but also to learn from them and hear from their many diverse stories!

It is about time we have conversation about why everything bad must be represented by the colour BLACK & everything good is represented by the colour WHITE… for example, when you see black smoke from the Sistine Chapel 💒 the Pope has not been elected, and when you see white smoke, it is good news, we have a new Pope? The devil is black and angels wear white?? It can’t continue like that forever without being challenged!

Woke up to some good news. When Citizens Initiative started work at Masibinta Secondary School in Binga, they had 0% pass rate. We built 2 blocks in 2023 and provided text books with the help of @UNmigration. The pass rate increased to 13% that year. In 2024 it rose to 41.03%. The school is now ranked 7th out of 46 in Binga. Even ahead of Binga High School. This reinforces our belief that investing in decent infrastructure is a sure way to improve academic outcomes in our communities. To those who spared their hard-earned money to help the people of Binga, it was not in vain. You have changed lives!

Ange has 19 minutes to save his job. Personally think the players downed tools on him the day he called them out for letting City beat them last April. Same old Spurs
