That's the whole issue: the show is getting unnecessary hate, I think partly because people want to go crazy for it. It has all the makings of a super mega hit. Personally, I enjoy watching it, but I am always feeling a bit disappointed, like, this is good, but think of what could have been.

@NearousA @LucasFryman I think Amazon assumed their celeb star power and fan bases brings more eyes to the show. But you’re right the animation could be better but it’s not a reason to stop watching the show entirely . Nor does it deserve any where near as much hate it’s getting

Invincible hurts me, because it has the potential to be great. It has 3 compendiums worth of comics and is a huge part of that loosely connected Imageverse. It’s a prime adaptation material. With it being a comic, it’s basically already storyboarded too. Instead, Kirkman decided to majorly cheap out on the animation, turn it into celebrity voice cameo slop, and make a bunch of baffling changes. It kills me.

I mean, JJK is, in fact, better animated than Invincible. It's not just JJK, however; even Western productions like Avatar/Hazbin Hotel have better animation. We dont even have to get into the budget allocation issues. I generally like the main voice cast of invincible but being honest, there is no reason to hire on-screen celebrities to voice background/side characters.

@NearousA @LucasFryman the main caveat is how gory it is which could put younger audiences off but aside from that the main negative sentiment comes from bogus facts that compared the anime jjk to invincible saying jjk spent less and is better animated and people without fact checking ran with it

I don't mean popular in pure viewership metrics which the shows are pretty even with. I mean in terms of how positive the reactions to the show are. Most people who watch arcane want to recommend it wholeheartedly. Invincible always comes with the caveats. This also explains the lack of invincible edits compared to arcane.

@solfullye @LucasFryman Watching and being mega fans are two different things. If it had better animation there would be significantly more edits/watch events/fans pushing it to more and more audiences. The only reason it's not just as popular if not more than say Arcane is because the animation is mid.

I think it's about trying to reach a good ratio. I dont think it's possible never to suffer. I've known a range of people well enough to guess/ask how they feel. Everyone has differnt ratios, but it's possible to change them over time. Personally, I've been happy to use my time in limbo to get back into/learn new hobbies. Do you feel your ratio has changed over time?

@NearousA I really don't know. I would like to believe suffering isn't intertwined with life itself, but I don't know a single person that isn't suffering in some way.

I want to be able to move to my own house (I'm 26). My career is fixed to my current location, but despite a relatively high income I still can't afford to buy anything here (nyc/long island). I could rent, but I feel it would be a waste when I don't have any problems with my family and they like me being around to help as well. There is a chance I could take a promotion to move to a different city so I'm just waiting on an opportunity like that to come up. I have enough savings to buy in areas around NY (NJ/CT/PA), just not enough for long island or NYC itself. Do you think you will be able to reach a state where life won't be suffering?

@NearousA What are the goals you are waiting for? If I were to die today, while I am far from happy or content with my life and what I've experienced, I would try to accept that I did the best I could. There would be some peace in knowing the suffering I feel in life would (presumably) end

@Hatsune_Natalya Hmm, that's a healthy way of viewing it. I'm at a point in life where I don't really have goals left to chase that dont involve waiting around for accumulation. So I feel a bit stuck in limbo, I dont think I think it would be especially satisfying to end here. How about you?

@NearousA Personally I don't like thinking about "after" anymore. I feel like it's a waste of however much time I have left on this side of living. I think more about would I be at peace with what I did today or with my life if I died today, in a year, two, ten, etc.

@Hatsune_Natalya It's interesting to think about tough. "After" the end, does time hold any meaning? It all passes by without consideration once you're gone. Could everything that was ever possible happen by the end of this reality? The start of a new one?

Her voting record isn't important to me; her beliefs and intentions are. These can be inferred from a multitude of factors, including her voting record. However, it can't simply be boiled down to yes or no on any particular bill. In my original comment, I linked a DSA article that actually stated what you are talking about: she voted against the bill but also did not support the amendment. Your continued focus on my "lie" while ignoring what I'm actually trying to say tells me you're more focused on "goutcha-ing" than actually talking. I won't be responding anymore.

@NearousA It's truly fascinating how AOC's vote record is very important to you while you were making stuff up about it, but once you got caught in a lie, all of a sudden the objective reality of whether or not she voted for a bill is a just semantics argument.

The way so many online leftists keep constantly lying about AOC's vote record (something that's trivially easy to verify) is sociopathic in its shamelessness. AIPAC and MAGA run politics on easy mode because they have an army of useful idiots boosting their agenda from the left.
SolSync@NearousA

@SamGradyWrites @humrashid @USA_Polling On July 18, 2025, AOC voted in favor of H.R. 4016, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which included funding for Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system. dsausa.org/statements/on-…

I already acquiesced that the actual vote on the bill was a no; however, that doesn't detract from my point that voting no/yes on bills isn't the only indication of support. AOC has also clarified that she does, in fact, support "defensive" funding to Israel. Since you seem unwilling to engage with the important part of the discussion, and want to focus on my statement being incorrect based on semantics alone. I dont think there is anything productive to be gained by continuing it.

@SamGradyWrites No, she did not vote for HR4016, being correct on face value and from a semantic perspective, while ignoring what I meant about voting yes/no; not being the only way to support or oppose a bill is not a win.

@NearousA @humrashid @USA_Polling AOC voted NO on H.R. 4016, big dawg! I don't understand why you guys feel so comfortable lying about easily verifiable public information. Do you know you're lying or are you just stupid/propagandized/confused? Genuine question. Not trying to be mean.

The statement still stands; the Americas were originally invaded, not immigrated to, by the European powers. Likewise, refusing to adapt your culture/morals to current-day America could be considered an invasion. In the same way, the Europeans did not adapt to the native culture/morals.

This completely ignores that EPIC only does this in order to gain market share. It's a strategy a company uses at the start to gain market share same as Uber/Streaming Services. If it were ever the case that EPIC was the dominant player in the way Valve is, they would be charging far more, and make the overall PC games market significantly worse due to poor service and restrictive policies. Valve has single-handedly kept the woes affecting every other industry at bay due to not being beholden to shareholders.

So you need to have equivalent real losses every year to cover unrealized gains? Lol Joke economics. Your investment one downturn away from losing everything. No one would invest in risk assets at all anymore. Also the majority of normal people are investing for retirement. If you have to lose 1/3 of your last few years your retirement is gonna run down real quick.

@LoreyCahey There wouldn't be a mass sell off panic button for one thing, any remotely savvy investor would consider selling off their underwater positions to realise losses to offset their tax burden on unrealised gains, or simply have cashflow to cover the tax.
