If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.
Let it go. Move on. Give your self a break. Do yourself a favor. Let bygones be bygones. It's water under the bridge. There's no use in driving yourself crazy. Go for a walk, listen to some music, get a massage. Do something nice for yourself.
It's going to be OK. There's no use crying over spilt milk. Everything happens for a reason.

@idbusa @GreenDrakeHatch I agree, David. Nothing better!!

@NeilSchott0315 @GreenDrakeHatch If you’re going to eat bread, homemade sourdough is the best.

Fresh coffee, amazing homemade sourdough bread (toasted), and a dash of Perky Cowgirl by @wasatchdotco make a great start to the morning.

@idbusa @GreenDrakeHatch You can never have too much bread!
English

I’ve never eaten so much bread in my life. This is my 3rd piece. @GreenDrakeHatch you should open up a bakery

@HSRdirector Truly a lifetime honor, Dr. Collier. You should be so proud of your achievement. Equally impressive is that you're both a distinguished teacher and a practitioner. Best of luck.

A couple years ago I read Anatomy of a Murder by Robert Traver (1958). Even then the complexity of crime, and in this case murder, was still being debated. The novel and your questions really make me think about crime and punishment. Sadly, so much still comes down to legal representation. I don't believe for a second there shouldn't be consequences, but what consequences? I'm not always so sure. Have a great week.

Is killing a vampire wrongful?
Thought experiment for mental health law class. Mr. A kills Mr. B believing he was a vampire. Assuming the belief is sincere and delusional, should it be considered as meeting criteria for insanity?
When evaluating an individual for insanity, one consideration is: assuming the belief is true, does it render the act not wrongful? Wrongfulness is the question as it is the most common test of insanity. On the one hand, a vampire could be considered neither a person nor an animal. A vampire could even be considered already dead, rendering the premise that he was killed wrong. On the other hand, it is unclear that killing things, whatever vampires are, is ever ethical without clear evidence of self-defense or of an impending danger. Would simply informing law enforcement that Mr. B was a vampire, the only ethical recourse? Is the law protecting the mutilation of dead corpses evidence that the act is wrongful even if the belief is true?
I wonder if such considerations were discussed in the case of Ronald Exantus. Assuming he believed he was a surgeon? Wouldn’t a surgeon still be wrongful in entering the home of a six-year-old to perform surgery?
What about the case of Michael Barisone from Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill? Assuming he believed that the alleged victim was harassing him and intending on destroying his life. Would that render him shooting her not wrongful? I am not aware of a law that permits an individual verbally threatened to respond by shooting. Even strong “stand-your-ground” states (Florida, Texas, etc.) require a belief in imminent force.

@NimraShahzadin Best of luck to you in your sobriety journey. You should be so proud of yourself. As for Carl...cats are earthbound Angels. Carl knows and is watching over you.
English

I’m an alcoholic. I got sober in July 2022.
When I first got sober, I was a mess. I started walking every day in an effort to get healthy and clear my head. From the very first walk, Carl refused to let me go alone. This little farm cat would trot right beside me for the entire 10,000 steps. No matter what, he simply wasn’t comfortable with me walking by myself.

this advice from @MattHennessey in @WSJFreeEx mirrors the advice I receive from my older patients.
I routinely ask my older patients for life advice and repeatedly they tell me “have as many children as you can”

@NeilSchott0315 @HSRdirector @MattHennessey @WSJFreeEx I wish I had gotten started earlier but then again I didn't find a wife till later. That said glad to have 5 kids even if I'll be old, they make me feel young.
