@dieworkwear I migrated from Silicon Valley tech to Central CA farming and the dress "uniforms" are awful. Jeans and a shirt that looks like a picnic table. Everything I wear is functional but seems like a step down from pajamas.

I also hate business casual. It's the only aesthetics I dislike. Would rather see someone in a three piece suit, punk outfit, or even a chicken costume than in a pair of slim fit chinos with a polo shirt, t-shirt, or quarter zip, esp with dress sneakers.

@realEstateTrent We always tell our kids to eat what they want and stop when they are full. Extras can always be reheated later They all are pretty lean and self-regulate quite well because they aren’t afraid that if they leave half a milkshake they won’t get another one again

@MCCCANM I can't quite figure how the jets were pinned - had to watch the vid several times - looks like the trailing aircraft made contact with the forward Hornet's starboard vertical stab - best I can figure that enough structure punctured the underside of the trailing Hornet and held.

Good illustration of ejection seat technology: Look at where the rockets on the seats fire. Both jets are inverted when the ejection is initiated, so the seat should fire the pilots straight at the ground… But they are smart. They fire enough to clear the jet, then re-orient themselves & fire enough to slow the descent. Once they do, the seats cut the occupants loose from the straps & deploy the parachute. Look where the parachutes deploy in relation to the jets. Absolutely incredible technology!
Brick Suit@Brick_Suit

Did a slow motion zoom of the collision. Looks like the left vertical stabilizer of the lower plane might have embedded itself in the fuselage of the upper plane. Scary stuff.

@BellaWallerstei I am in the same nomadic situation here in the US. Sensible approaches on so many things are trampled by polarization/tribalism. Difficult to build centrist coalitions on anything.

I’ve been politically homeless - changing my vote in each election. But I’d support a party that combined competence & patriotism with a plan to reverse Brexit, rebuild social contract, fix planning, restore investment attractiveness & harness AI. Debates we may finally have

Ready to power this thing down and get some R&R. I honestly don’t know what was more stressful: the actual repos? Or producing a 45 minute documentary by myself over 3 days. 😵‍💫

@BuzzPatterson @xAviation One of the most thrilling landings I've ever had is being sequenced (in a Saratoga) between two SWA 737s at KSAN. Delays for departure however, mean I used KSEE or KMYF instead now.

There’s a parking garage right off the approach end at San Diego. I love flying there! Delta used to put us up right down the street and once the other pilot and I walked over with a 6-pack of beer, went to the top floor, and watched the guys come in. One of the best spots to plane watch in the country!

🚨🚨🚨 $400,000,000!!!!! Yes you read that right!! Here it is friends!! The most expensive home we’ve ever listed! The crown jewel of Los Angeles!! This home took a decade to build and was completed in 2018 on 8 acres of mostly flat space with views of downtown to the pacific Ocean. There is over 70,000 sq ft across multiple structures and is regarded as “the most expensive home in the USA (what better way to celebrate it’s 250 year anni than buying this). The main house has 10 bedrooms, 13 staff bedrooms and the guest house has 6 guest bedrooms with 10 more staff bedrooms. Currently listed for only $400 million.

@SteveNomadic @SetantaADV I agree about the 750, have that experience in any turbulence. Have a smaller GNX375 in my Cherokee and you can accomplish almost everything with the concentric knobs. Same with Dynon Skyview - don't have to use the touch screen if you don't want.

@SetantaADV I don’t like em. No touch screens in any airliners I fly, but I had a GTN750 in my Aerostar. Great unit except the touchscreen was awful in even the slightest turbulence. Fortunately there was a knob for the VHF Frequencies

Are there any pilots out there who can share thoughts on touch screens in cockpits? I know I absolutely hate them in cars. Every time I hit a bump I touch the wrong area and make a selection I don’t want. I suspect that would apply to turbulence too. On top of that, I have to focus attention on the screen to make the touch, taking my eyes off the road. With analog buttons, I tend to memorize locations and can feel where the button I want is, making far fewer mistakes, and keeping my eyes outside more.
TWZ@thewarzonewire

Boeing’s AH-64E Apache can swap the traditional glass cockpit for a large-area touch screen display. Our Jamie Hunter got a hands-on demonstration of the new system at the Army Aviation Warfighting Summit:

@PIC_Colleen If/when you get back also recommend the shrimp/grits, and flash-fried flounder! When I lived there I worked about 3 blocks from the @airandspace Museum and it will never not be my favorite museum in the universe.

Sadly the air & space museum wouldn’t let us in the last 30 minutes they were open… even told them we were pilots on an overnight last minute. Wouldn’t budge! But we took the Lime bicycles around the city, which was actually a great way to navigate the Mall, and saw a lot of the monuments. Ended up getting dinner at the Old Ebbitt, which was a great recommendation. Definitely need to come back and spend a few days here, there’s just so much to see! 🇺🇸
