Still can't believe Detroit traded Hronek at 2023 trade deadline because they didn't want to pay him. Their pro scouting on defenceman is the main reason they are 10 years without playoffs. Their amateur scouts are great at drafting D, but pro scouts have made some huge errors.

@AppleSeider_ Copp as 3C is much better than Copp as 2C. JBD is perfectly fine as a 3rd pair. Perron as a 3rd liner is also perfectly fine. The answer is adding a legit 2C so the rest of the pieces can fall in place. The prospects can fill in the rest of the cracks

@DetroitRedWings They did this exact thing very recently when they thought Gibson would probably be good but needed insurance. That’s why it’s not Cossa, and if anything is a good sign for Gibson.

@NewFunkTrunk @m_bultman the problem w this is Larkin is apparently playing injured and even before coming back had been dreadful at 5v5 for months and months. you put him w the duo that's been carrying the 5v5 offense for months to 'spark' him, maybe it does that, or maybe it breaks them too.

That is a *big* haul for Vancouver, & I'm not saying Detroit couldn't have matched it but it would've been a lot. Something like Edvinsson (maybe ASP but Zeev's value is much higher), Kasper/Danielson, Buchelnikov/Lombardi/Mazur maybe?, & a 1st. Buium is the big piece here.
