@adpirz @garrytan Triplebyte limited by the tech of its time. We can offer more personalized, role and candidate-specific assessments and interactive experiences at scale.

@garrytan Am big fan of this type of screening as a former Triplebyte hire who came from K12 Ed / no tech background into a YC co. But alas that Triplebyte is no more. How will this be different?

What they’re doing is solid, but quite a few startups are already solving for this. While technical proficiency is very important, many candidates struggle with translating user feedback and feature requests into effective, well-designed solutions, a gap that can slow down product iterations. It’s difficult to hire well-balanced engineers.. Incorporating assessments that measure design thinking and creative problem-solving skills would complement their current system imo. By evaluating how well a candidate can integrate design principles into practical development work, you can identify hires who not only write good code but also contribute to efficient, user-centric product evolution. This holistic evaluation would help bridge the gap between raw technical ability and real-world application, leading to more robust and adaptable teams. Maybe NextByte can look into this, I can think of at least 20 founders myself who will be on platform all the time Bigger companies often have the luxury of hiring in silos, different PMs, designers, and developers working in coordination. However, in many of the nimble, successful YC startups, developers possess a strong understanding of user needs and can operate in a multidisciplinary fashion. For startups, solving this problem could be huge, as it would enable teams to iterate faster and build products that are both technically sound and intuitively designed & developed.
