@ChloMorag @SmoughTown I grew up with too much Stalin-style mythologized humans propaganda. Clocked the same thing immediately for Marika To me it feels more like something the Golden Order made up than the actual developer intent. SotE unveiled her village girl past that seems very human to me

@Nguyen_P_L @SmoughTown You realise that’s the intention right? She’s meant to feel alien, changing that for the movie is disrespectful to the game.

I’m of the opinion that we shouldn’t have seen Marika at all. What makes her so compelling in the game is her absence. We see the impact she has had on the world…and that void of her is massive. Feeling incredibly mixed on the prospect of a Live Action Elden Ring
Dylan🇵🇸@Oby_LFC6

Seeing Marika in the flesh definitely feels strange, the hair and crown look a bit odd too, especially considering we've already seen an almost 1 to 1 recreation of the church statues. Curious if this might be a younger Marika (or another character entirely and we're all fools)

@SmoughTown Say, if it was the Formless Mother who did the same thing Marika did, would that be compelling? It would be horrifying yes, but not compelling. Marika was compelling because she was human. Her physical existence is more impactful than the unknowable absence of a formless divinity

@SmoughTown I actually like that she is de-mystified. She has always been a human like all others, with all the virtues and all the flaws I am never a fan of considering a human character more than what they are. It alienate them from their own actions and consequences

@FirstMateToast @HkonMk Technically you betrayed Leda, not the reverse She trusted you to be on her side. Ansbach and Thiollier were her enemies. You sided with them instead The consequences of your action indeed

@HkonMk You know what broke my heart? I trusted Leda. I killed Ansbsch, I killed Thollier thinking he would betray her. I figured that Leda would swing to my side. I was a fool. I was fighting an army, alone with a copy of myself. It was hell, the consequences of my actions.

@HkonMk Funy how the protagonist being silent is an actual plot point Leda mistakenly thought the player was charmed to be Miquellas follower as well, becuase they did not clarify that she was wrong when they first met lmao

@Flint89 @HkonMk Real world example, would a genocide on Japanese people be justified due to Unit 731? What they did to China put the Hornsent to shame. But no, it would not be justified. There are innocent Japanese folks as well. Genocide is never justified

@Flint89 @HkonMk Nope. Genocide is never ever justified. Understandable, but not justified There are always innocent civilians in the crossfire. We know for a fact that Messmer killed Hornsent children, who are innocent, and burned Romina's church, who is also innocent. How is it justified?

the ash and bodies literally making up parts of Enir-Ilim is so unsettling. Just how many people did the Hornsent slaughter to build the stairs to godhood?

@HkonMk @Drazon333 Maybe the Hornsent built it for someone else, or for a different purpose, but Marika hijacked it for herself Kinda like how Mohg was offering blood to the Formless Mother, but Miquella hijacked it for himself Something something seduction and betrayal

@Drazon333 But this divine castle was built by the hornsent, does that mean the hornsent was willingly making Marika a god before she turned on them ?

@HkonMk It is interesting how the siblings Melina and Messmer were both kindling for burning a tree Marika's whole world order rely on people not burning these two specific demigods down. I guess it was smart prior to the Rune of Death being stolen, when they were both immortal

@LandryC6200 @HkonMk The Hornsent Inquisitor enemies can be found in Gravesite Plain, Scadu Altus, and Rauh too, but their names were only in the codes not the item drop I think seeing Jori, Elder Inquisitor means we should make the connection that the smaller ones are newer inquisitors

Midra’s fate is so horrifying when you piece it together. Impaled and tortured by the Hornsent, living in perpetual agony, clinging to Nanaya’s final words to endure. No wonder the Frenzied Flame eventually consumed him. At least now his suffering is finally over.

@LandryC6200 @HkonMk So instead of saying "Golden Order inquisitors", they just shorten to "inquisitors" Same with "Hornsent inquisitors" to "inquisitors"

@LandryC6200 @HkonMk "Inquisitors" mean they are investigating and eliminating threats, in this case the Frenzied Flame The Golden Order had their own inquisitors working under Praetor Rykard, also in charge of investigating and torturing oppositions (remember Inquisitor Ghiza from Volcano Manor)

Finally facing the Lord of Frenzied Flame is such a legendary moment. Midra has one of the best movesets in the entire DLC. The whole fight feels like a dance, backed by an S tier soundtrack.

@LandryC6200 @HkonMk That line means the Golden Order adopted Hornsent's cruelty, which is an irony on Marika's part Miquella already abandoned Golden Order by the time he made Unalloyed Gold Morgott was also guarding the Three Fingers with his seal, not just Mohg, it is just dangerous af

@bander_sss_ksa @goshingbot @HkonMk They're bums lol, the black knife at Leyndell could not kill Morgott, black knives at Ordina did not reach Miquella & Malenia, the ones in Limgrave could not even get to Godrick Death Knights are all hype moments & auras but when it comes to actually do their job they're frauds

It's disturbing how obsessively loyal Godwyn's Death Knights are. Even after becoming a monstrosity, they were willing to prepare an Age of the Duskborn just to keep serving him, as if they had no other purpose. Imagining Godwyns corpse as the symbol of a new order is terrifying

The item description for Messmer’s Kindling is so interesting. “Messmer, much like his younger sister, bore a vision of fire.” This is clearly referring to Melina who was also born with a flame capable of burning the Erdtree. And strangely, she's the kindest child of Marika (1/4)
