@LookAtMyMeat1 She's a middle class white girl. She has 0 interesting experiences, so the only drama she can introduce into her life is playing victim. That's why the story refuses to actually give her any real consequences. Doing so would cause the devs to actually acknowledge that.

the "hero" isn't just unlikeable, she's entirely selfish, controlling, and immature. At no point is she ever forced to grow and learn as a person. There is no final realization of how selfish and impossible her dream is. We the player are just basically expected to side with her despite no actual payoff.

@ymnis_v1 Genuinely, I don't think anybody would give a single atom of a shit if it was reviewed like yours. The nail in this games coffin was IGN and others giving it a masterpiece review after giving more beloved games a lower score *cough* E33 *cough*

#Mixtape isn’t trying to be Detroit or Until Dawn. it’s more like playable memories from some suburban California kids in 1999. music, friendship, dumb ideas, big dreams, and slowly realizing you’ll probably never be this close to these people again. the soundtrack carries hard af, the art direction is immaculate, and yeah there’s gameplay. traversal, rhythm sequences, interaction, exploration - mechanics this medium has literally had for decades. there are a few pacing issues and I honestly think the Baby Steps-esque video store segment could’ve been longer, but overall? really good ass game that’s gonna resonate with some people and completely miss others. 8/10. glad games like this still get made.

My last post on Mixtape: This game isn't one you're supposed to stream to people. It's one you enjoy by yourself and reflect on life. There's no agenda. There's no politics. There's not even really gameplay, but that's okay. There's just being able to look back at the moments you grew up with. That's why its so good. We live in a world where people are performative. Where everything we do is judged and reposted, liked, shared... This game brought me back to the times where I spent 30 minutes setting my AIM away message. When me and my friends would wander streets away from our house until I heard my dad whistle. When I wandered out with my buddies in some parking lot to smoke clove cigarettes because we thought that was cool. If you don't want to spend a couple hours by yourself with your own thoughts thinking about the moments that made you who you are... fine. But Mixtape was deliberately made not to make you nostalgic for the 90s, but make you nostalgic for that moment in your life that took place around then. Maybe you were a bit older, maybe you were a bit younger, but the people who grew up between the 80s and early 00s lived in such a unique cross section of technology and humanity. We could disappear for hours and then come back and play WoW with people all over the world. That's what Mixtape does so well. Everyone has moments in their life that they should reflect on. If you choose not to, it's your loss.

@YoIntangible @RinoTheBouncer Maybe it's just me, but knowing it's another player behind the monster for some reason always made the game seem less scary. Like, Freddy Kruger is scary, but thinking that a 13 year old named Tommy is the monster definitely kills it. Maybe it was different playing it.

@ShitpostRock2 A good game is a good game. Yeah, they fucked up, HARD. But they didn't just pocket the money and bounce, they came back. They released some massive updates that fixed and massively improved the game. Then they released a DLC that is considered one of the best ever.

The gaming community went WAY TOO EASY on CDPR with Cyberpunk 2077. The fact they made the game functional is not something that deserves praise Not to mention that nearly 70% of promised features never made it into the actual game
