@Kscott_94 The issue with buses is that they too get caught in the traffic, e.g. coming from bottom of Lisburn road/Malone and onto S’bury Sq is standstill for long periods over rush hr. This has knock on affect on all those services. The 9/8 stops should move back to avoid Bedford street.

Interested in your take on the traffic issues in Belfast. People I have talked to this week have described our public transport as unreliable, expensive, underinvested, and non-flexible. Who is to blame for the traffic? Why do you not use public transport ? How is it fixed ?

@TranslinkMetro Time to move the stops back! It’s been chaos since the move to Bruce Street, a single lane road cannot sustain that traffic.

#MET Metro 7, 8 & 9 services will terminate at Bruce Street and operate outwards from Dublin Rd until further notice due to heavy traffic conditions. Howard St/Bedford St & Great Northern Mall stops will not be served outbound. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

@irish_news I work every Wednesday it has taken 45 minutes+ to get home (4ish miles city centre to where I live in Belfast) then they moved the bus stops to Bedford Street and it’s taking 1 hour 15 minutes, 1 hour 25 minutes last Wednesday! It’s chaos and so so stressful!

@adampollock I dread the commute from city centre to Balmoral every Wednesday! Record yesterday of 1 hour 25 mins and it only gets later and later, I’ve had to ask someone to collect my daughter from nursery as I miss closing even though I finish at 5 and they close at 6!

Planning in Belfast city centre is an abject failure. This bus lane was created two months ago to encourage public transport use and reduce city centre traffic. Now, there is just standstill traffic at rush hours every day. This city is a complete failure.
