A 43 year old expects to retire before the transit agency completes Valley Link between Mountain House and Dublin/Pleasanton. He's now resigned to a tough commute for the rest of his career. Yet another case of rail construction delays and cost overruns in the Bay Area.

Let's face it: Mahan is not going to make the top 2. So what's Silicon Valley's Plan B? Hopefully you've now realized that you can't be in a coalition with public employee unions and anti-progress decels.

@ZavalaA @BillMelugin_ Not a surprise! The 60 Minutes piece 2 1/2 weeks ago on CA HSRA stated that Governor Newsom had repeatedly denied requests to speak with 60 Minutes. Governor Newsom regularly runs to get in front of a camera at every opportunity, chose to run away 60 minutes on HSRA!

NEW: We were hoping to interview California High-Speed Rail CEO Ian Choudri today about issues with his business plan, but it’s not happening. He wanted to limit what we ask, banning questions about issues that came up about him in February. We would not agree to those terms.

@SacHornetsNat I remember in a four-game span Lavrenov averaged > 21 points and almost 10 rebounds per game. He credited Mike Bibby and Brad Miller for his significant improvement. This is a loss!

@realarmaansidhu Dude, a civil verdict with BS evidence in ancient case in a liberal jurisdiction against a controversial political figure is completely irrelevant.

The "rapist" framing has legal grounding. A New York federal jury in May 2023 found Trump civilly liable for sexual abuse against E. Jean Carroll. Judge Lewis Kaplan later issued a clarification stating the jury's findings meant Trump had, in legal effect, raped her. So the "rapist" framing in mainstream media is not invented. It tracks an actual federal court finding. Calling that "knowingly false" requires rejecting the federal court finding, which most legal analysts wouldn't endorse. The "pedophile" framing is harder to source. There's no court finding supporting it. Mainstream Democratic figures and legacy media have generally not used that specific term. The framing traces to fringe online speculation, Epstein-era associations, and rumors that have not been substantiated by credible reporting. The accountability is real. The accountability is also distributed. The "media incited this" framing wants concentrated accountability on a single actor. The actual mechanism is distributed across multiple actors over multiple years. That's harder to attack rhetorically. It's also closer to what actually happened.
Libs of TikTok@libsoftiktok

Cole Allen wrote this in his manifesto: “I am no longer willing to permit a ped*phile, rap*st, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” This is what happens when the media knowingly falsely call Trump a r*pist pedo. Media incited this. They knew exactly what they were doing.

@AllenSmythee67 @ChrisCillizza Additionally, after 6 months after being sworn-in to office, a CA Governor (or any CA State Constitutional Officer) can be recalled. A Republican Governor would be removed in CA (60-40 Dem advantage) w/in 12 months.

I know this may not appeal to my socially conservative friends here, but I think we should all welcome the decline in STDs in San Francisco due to the greater availability of antibiotics.

@Zigmanfreud @nytimes @TheAthletic Yes, the same guy who on Netflix compared the NFL Combine & Draft process to a Southern Antebellum Slavery Auction. As we all know for US History, African-Americans volunteered for slavery so they could make millions of dollars and drive BMW/Mercedes-Benz horse and buggies!

The 60 Minutes high-speed rail piece is pretty fair. Notable that Newsom refused an interview request. My biggest quibbles: Brightline West will not open for service in 2029. Best case per @Lucid_Stew is 2031. The current $126 billion CaHSR estimate pays for SF-LA in > 4hrs.
60 Minutes@60Minutes

America’s hopes for its first high-speed rail line were kindled in 2008, when California voters approved a ballot measure for a bullet train between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Nearly two decades later, that dream is yet to arrive. cbsn.ws/48jzMBx

NEW: Former women's soccer player Megan Rapinoe appears to suggest there is no scientific evidence that men are better than women at sports. The comment came as Rapinoe raged against the IOC's decision to only let women play in women's sports. It is worth noting that the United States women's national soccer team, which Rapinoe played on, previously got beaten by an under-15 boys team. H/t: @libbyemmons

Twice in five years Tiger Woods has been in near fatal car accidents where he was inexplicably driving alone, and in neither situation are we ever going to get even a rudimentary explanation for what really happened. Tiger’s actually very lucky to be uninjured in jail right now.
