@XboxTimdog Hi Tim, unlike you, I don't pay for X premium, nor do I have any interest in increasing my follower count so I don't really care about engagement on my account If it's low or high. 🙏😌 I also have no desire to monetize it either.

Seen several quote #PlayStation's 78% digital full game sales, thus omitting important context. That figure includes countless digital only releases, from back catalogue to indie games etc. Even Capcom revealed 84% of its sales were "older catalog titles", many of which are only available digitally. So using such data is somewhat misleading. To gauge REAL physical demand you need to look at splits of games that released both physical AND digital only. Thanks to the Insomniac leaks, we have such data on PS first party games. Playstation Physical / Digital splits Sackboy - 77% / 23% R&C Rift Apart - 76% / 24% Ghost of Tsushima DC - 71% / 29% Demon's Souls - 70% / 30% Miles Morales - 66% / 34% Spider-Man - 66% / 34% Returnal - 61% / 39% The Last of Us 2 - 61% / 39% Ghost of Tsushima - 51% / 49% MLB The Show 21 - 39% / 61% So per Sony's own internal data, 31/33 first party games from their chart sold more PHYSICAL than they did digital. Uncharted 4 actually has an insane 83% physical split. Granted it only covers through to a few months into 2022, but we can see from other more recent data, things haven't drastically changed. For example GSD data shows ~60% of Astro Bot sales across Europe were physical. So what skews revenue and data more digital, beyond digital only releases and platforms? The answer is games with LIVE SERVICE components, especially multiplatform ones. As you can see from Sony's internal data, MLB has the highest digital split, and it's a live service game. Generally the highly popular live service or annualised games such as Call of Duty, NBA 2K, FIFA etc, have higher digital splits, as gamers are constantly launching them (often daily) and don't want to be constantly switching discs, thus skewing digital/physical splits. It's very different to single player games which are shorter and have different play and consumer trends. So again, context matters. Then there's a MASSIVE audience of gamers that aren't even accounted for in any of this data; the countless consumers that buy and sell used physical games, because they simply can't afford as many new games, but still buy/own consoles, accessories, games, services etc. Everything from poor parents, kids etc. Ultimately, the data rejects the notion physical is dead or meaningless, even if digital accounts for the overall lionshare of revenue/sales, especially when you look at things with the proper context and/or focus on single player tentpole games, which is PlayStation's bread and butter. Keep in mind platforms make a 15% licensing fee from third parties on physical games, while they get a 30% cut on digital. Likewise first party lose a 30% cut to retailers on physical, while they keep all of the revenue on digital. As I said before, this move to kill physical is more about PlayStation trying to make far more profit and squeeze away the last remnants of consumer ownership, control, flexibility and resale, and could have greater negative market ramifications.

@Canadianguyehh Just posted this. Here are the games that go to their 85% vs 15% stat ratio 👇 They cost 1 buck, and give you a platinum trophy. Obviously shit like this is only possible because of the digital format.

Did a little research into this "85% of games bought on Playstation are digital". So I decided to look at the EXACT wording of what that meant. Spoiler: Its not "Out of 100 copies of Spiderman sold, 85% are digital" Here's how they calculate it. Digital Units sold, Divided by Total Units sold, times 100. Straight forward right? In Q4 of 2025, sony sold 74.6 million units in total, that is both Digital and Physical units. But the "85% of all games bought are digital" has a HUGE skew to it. Why? Because there are THOUSANDS of DIGITAL only games that do not get a PHYSICAL release. Think the 5$-20$ indie titles or digital only ports of older games. However, those digital sales are counted AGAINST the physical sales. Meaning? Even if EVERYONE who stopped buying Physical in the past 5 years, went out and bought one game a month? Digital will still dominate physical because (mostly) everything thats physical is also digital, but very little that is digital is also physical. The Comparison is not fair and when its thrown around on social media its literally framed in a way for the stat to prove how dominant Digital sales are while excluding a number of factors. Doing so would be like comparing Your local Wal-Mart's stock to Amazon. Not only that, but there are many digital only sales that are held that puts STEEP discounts on games that in-store simply cannot do. Of course there are some games that are on sale in-store that are not on sale digitally, but those digitally only games ALSO go on sale which the retailer has Zero access to because its digital only. There's also digital incentives where buying the game digitally grants you more content vs buying it in store, driving more sales. Then, there are some games that release digitally, and then have a physical release MONTHS later; or, allow you to play the game a few days early. If you wanted a more fair comparison? It would be "Digital media with a simultaneous Physical Release vs The Physical Release" Having this stat would reveal the true number. But even THAT number is missing details because that also doesn't include people buying the game second hand/Used from GameStop. However, while Im sure that stat would STILL benefit digital sales, I would suggest and conclude that it wouldn't be "85%" as many people are suggesting. Sources: sony.com/en/SonyInfo/IR…

@FrameAGame @purpanx @PlayStation What this guy doesn't understand is that that minority still generated over a hundred million per title.... Stop using it as if they are taking a loss with physical. It's embarrassing.

it's funny how "it doesn't effect me" is being used as a bad thing now... I remember standing against PlayStation removing features, bringing back certain games and wanting things from PlayStation. The same ppl upset now with PlayStation told me "it doesn't effect me". Now I see the funny side. I could be like the same ppl that wouldn't stand with me or others then. But I won't, I'll stand with you and push against PlayStation getting rid of Physical media even though "it doesn't effect me" 😊

@HipHopGamer I don't like that gamers are using this percentage as if they don't profit from said percentage. They aren't/didn't lose anything. It's a win/win for company and the consumer. Exclusive games make up that same percentage y'all wouldn't want that % taken out of context 🤷🏾‍♂️

Yes it’s weird to see PC gamers who have been all digital for 10-20 years pretending like they care about physical media in gaming. It is unfortunate for people who solely buy digital but that’s the way the cookie crumbles when dealing with tech, I remember people being upset with from dialup to Ethernet 😅. I think it’s kind of funny to see you say that I don’t stick up for black issues when I probably do more speaking up for black people than you do🤷🏽‍♂️. I speak on it, help my people and 75% of my staff is black, in fact I was asked to mix it up a bit more. I’m just not for the ignorant shit and keep it real!
AGSLIVE@hard8_times

So it's weird to you to see people not with this bullshit? instead of supporting gamers you laughing is it going to be funny when it's something that does affect you? I'm not surprise cause it's you and this the same shit you do when it come time to stand with black people you always on the other side that's the weird shit
