.@Uber_Support providing an update as it has been a frustrating process. No resolution was found, and no explanation was provided for the current course of action that is unreasonable. I have moved to back to @Instacart

.@Uber_Canada I have repeatedly of late had Uber Eats orders that were incorrect and I haven't been able to get refunded/credited. This is getting very frustrating, and none of the help options on the app are working (I just go in circles). Can you help resolve this please?

Why we should love our enemies? The first reason is fairly obvious. Returning hate for Hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that. Hate multiples hate, violence multiplies violence. -MLK

Amid all that we are facing (and seemingly more and more everyday), our outrage gets re-ignited and escalates. This is a righteous and humane reaction to so much of this. But this quote feels apropos as we move forward... ""Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you"

If Bill C-2 passes, it will become a Criminal Code offence for businesses, professionals, and charities to accept cash donations, deposits, or payments of $10,000 or more. Even if the $10,000 payment or donation is broken down into several smaller cash transactions, it will still be a crime for a business or charity to receive it. This is similar to Quebec's Bill 54, adopted in March 2024, which empowers police to presume that any person carrying $2,000 or more in cash must have obtained it as the proceeds of crime. Police can seize the money, and the citizen must prove his or her innocence to get it back. It is true that very few Canadians use cash in the amount of $10,000 or more for a single purchase or donation, but once doing so becomes criminal, it’s easy for the federal government to reduce the legal amount to $5,000, then $1,000, then $100, and eventually nothing. Restricting the use of cash is a dangerous step towards tyranny and totalitarianism. Cash gives citizens privacy, autonomy, and freedom from surveillance by government and by banks, credit card companies, and other corporations. If we cherish our privacy, we need to defend our freedom to choose cash, in the amount of our choosing. This includes, for example, our right to pay $10,000 cash for a car, or to donate $10,000 (or more) to a charity. Law enforcement already has the tools to fight crime. Perhaps they need a bigger budget to hire more people, or perhaps they need to use existing tools more effectively. In a free society, violating our right to use cash is not the answer.

@robfoot Interesting model. Beyond age demos, what about working class demos? Not sure if we have good baseline data on that by riding though. But I would expect that would be a predictor too

One bit of clarification, as it's come up a few times ChatGPT did not make this model All ChatGPT did was parse through millions of rows in government census CSV's to determine populations, and match those to the electoral districts on 338 This is work that would have taken hours, but instead took minutes No AI in the model x.com/robfoot/status…

I read the liberal platform. I know a thing or two about govt budgets having worked for a Finance minister. This plan will lead to Canada losing its AAA credit rating. Markets were expecting (wrongfully) something serious to come from an ex-central banker. They were wrong. And mark my words they will react. The craziest thing in there is the creative accounting regarding investments vs. spending. Liberals will pretend that "investments" (I presume infrastructure? who knows cause there aren't any details!) don't count in the deficit, and so they will be able to "balance the budget" by 2030. Unfortunately, their 250 billion dollars (!!) in new spending will still add to the debt. You just won't see it. Canada, in its current state, can't afford this. As an economist, I honestly was expecting more from Carney.

Really good to see Pierre on a podcast and particularly this one: Shane has a following from younger, freedom values oriented Canadians (who aren’t partisan). The discussed topics include concerns about government overreach (digital free speech, trust in government post-Covid) 👏

Pierre Poilievre (@PierrePoilievre) shares his vision for making Canada the world's best place to build a life—with practical solutions for a more prosperous future. TKP is not a political podcast—and won't become one. I've invited both major party leaders to share their visions because I'm deeply concerned about how public discourse has degraded into angry soundbites. We've lost the ability to explore complex issues with patience and good faith. This conversation is my small effort to model what better dialogue might look like. This needs to circulate as widely as possible. Liberals are hypocritically trying to frame conservatives for having MAGA ties but turns out it’s liberal employees orchestrating the whole thing. This is a very terminally online move on their part but also completely disgusting
