Thoughts from Pebble: -18th hole is the hardest hole in golf 😬🤦🏻‍♂️ -Really up and down week… Swing felt really good at times and really bad at times. I don’t feel like I’m too far off but not sharp either. Will work on my swing with Sean and try and get it going this week. -My short game was consistently bad though haha 😅. Couldn’t figure out the bunkers very well, and chipping was off. Not technique wise, just off with my touch. -Speaking of which, a tip for all you amateurs. You have to open the face when hitting bunker shots. The leading edge just digs way too much when you keep that face square. When you open the face, it doesn’t dig as much and you can release it more which is a better motion overall. -My amateur partners were great to play with. Thomas and Michael were both really nice guys and I hope they enjoyed their time. The weather the first two days were really great. Pebble in good weather is so so sick. -Good part is that my putting has definitely improved from last yr. I had a little trouble with greens being so slow this week but I’m finding my groove with my putting way more than last yr.

@Top100Rick I played it a week after the last US Open there and this is spot on. IMHO Rustic Canyon in Moorpark, CA is a far superior course. Public. Gil Hanse at his best and a quarter of the price.

Is Torrey Pines overrated? 15 years ago, Torrey Pines was beloved. A muni PGA Tour course and home of Tiger’s glorious US Open on one leg. But as golf course architecture ideas spread on social media, so did the hate on Torrey. Is it justified? My take on Torrey Pines: It’s an awesome setting for golf. The weather is amazing. The views are excellent. The fact that it’s public means so much, anybody can show up and play this major test. But the golf course itself? It’s pretty much just okay. You won’t remember most holes and you won’t be asked to think. You will try to keep the ball out of the deep rough and then you will hit it again. The incredible land isn’t used to its potential. The green complexes won’t spark any joy and your creative mind won’t be activated. It’s still golf at a great place and I’ll always have fun there. Golf is awesome. And public major golf is rare, Torrey Pines gives us that. Torrey currently ranks #40 on the Golf Digest top 100 public. Taking a quick glance, I’d put it quite a bit lower. (If trying to judge the golf course alone, not the major history.) Should you play it? If you love golf history, then yes. I am glad I’ve played it and will play it again

Psychedelics don't create permanent change. Instead, they catalyze a window for change. We call this "re-opening the critical learning period." If you don't take advantage of this opening, the brain defaults back to its original state. And you miss a golden opportunity.

@BowTied_Golfer 💯 as long as you are honest with yourself about your yardages. Which I call the "pick the club you know will reach the green or you cut off a finger". That clarifies things.

Gut instinct tells me a lot of amateurs would play better by simply eyeballing distances. For better or worse (in the moment) it's a good skill to build. Eyeballing forces you to build feel, and in some cases, get creative. Both are net positives.

@PaulAustin3w Agree. Ketamine therapy is crap. Dial up 5grams of Penis Envy and an hour on K is non-alcoholic beer.

Ketamine creates distance from your thoughts. Psilocybin mushrooms dissolve the thinker entirely. Both are called "psychedelics." Only one actually is.

@NUCLRGOLF That is appointment televsion. Champions Tour should just give Block a card for 5 years. He'll contend every couple of weeks.

@Top100Rick 12 Augusta at Renditions in Maryland. I loved it. I've played Cypress, LACC North, Riviera and Torrey Pines. Tribute courses are fun.

What does X golf think about tribute courses? Can you tell which golf hole this is a replica of? (Some golfers don’t like tribute courses…I like them. 99% won’t ever play most famous courses, so let’s have some fun on replicas. Why not?)

Chinatown was recently named by the LA Times as the Best L.A. Movie of All Time. I like this decision. You guys know Jack Nicholson is my favorite actor, and this might be his best performance. The problem I’m having is I don’t know if anything tops Heat. That might be LA’s best.

I bought blades wayyyy too early into starting golf. Like within the first year of starting. However, the VERY OBVIOUS toe hooks and near-hosel slices helped me identify mis-hits immediately. I do think looking back it helped me develop faster. Not sure I’d recommend for everyone. What would you tell someone the general rule of thumb is?
